Ancient, Medieval and Elizabethan literature and history, Travel and Camping (though neither as often as I would like), Writing (primarily short non-fiction essays and novel-length works), Ballroom dancing, Opera (mostly Italian), Walking, Collecting bits of trivia for future regurgitation, Reading, Current events and News and being revolted by the policies of the Bush administration. Also Paranormal phenomena, the Occult, UFOs, Aliens, Space travel and anything else that might stave off the ennui of modernity for a moment or two...
Music
Classical music, Jazz (America's Songbook, "The Rat Pack," Ella, Billie, etc. and more recently additions to the genre, like Michael Buble, Donna Krall and Westlife), Some modern pop, but I'm very picky (Christina Aguilera's newest album meets with my approval, though).
Movies
Most dramas, action--the more explosions and car chases, the better, sci-fi/fantasy and suspense/horror movies--"Saw" and "Hostel" have made their marks, let's move on. My taste in comedies span from "The Royal Tenenbaums" to "The Beautician and the Beast," but I prefer clever and dark or witty and sardonic over tripe, like "The Devil Wears Prada" and "How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days."
Television
Almost anything on the History Channel, A&E, and CourtTV. Any "Law and Order," except "Criminal Intent," "Cold Case," "Roseanne," "Absolutely Fabulous, "The Nanny," "The Golden Girls," "Nip/Tuck," "The Shield" and the list goes on...
Books
Most works penned by authors from the following list: Shakespeare, Chaucer, Yeats, Shelley (both Percy and Mary), Ovid, Andy Rooney, Homer, Dante (author of "The Divine Comedy," not the football player), Sedaris, Poe, Crane, Longfellow, Whitman, Bly, Mitch Alboum, Norman Mailer...
Heroes
Few living people will ever meet my standards to be classified as a "hero," though my father comes closest...

About me: I was born 500 years too late. While genuinely happy, I really feel disconnected from the modern world and find myself retreating further back into history, trying to find some place to call "home." While I am completely capable of functioning in modern society, I find much of it very frustrating and unfulfilling. I yearn for a modern equivalent of the "mysteries" associated of previous centuries, like monsters, exotic lands, curses and divinely-inspired plagues. Anything that once made these times unique or exciting has been dismissed away by science through research and exploration. Where in the 1400s, I could have signed on as a shipmate bound for the New World, the East Indies or Cipango, now all that remains is space exploration and NASA has yet to call for volunteers with Master's Degrees in English to colonize Mars, but when they do...
