    CENTAURUS-A was formed in 2000 by Maik Matanovic (guitar), Patrick Schroeder (drums) and Michael Ahlgrimm (bass/backing vocals) in Cologne, Germany. After releasing two demos, the band's line-up was completed in 2003 with guitarist Hernan Martinez and vocalist Johannes Henke. This was a great leap forward and CENTAURUS-A continued to develop their unique mix of technical death/thrash metal. A lot of time and effort was put in writing new songs which were released on the first studio-recorded demo "Narcotic" and earned positive feedback and reviews from fans and the metal press. In the following years, the band played numerous gigs all over Germany and achieved an excellent reputation as an energetic live-band. Having created a potent blend of aggressive and melodic songs, CENTAURUS-A was ready to enter the Hansen Studios (Denmark) in April 2007 and start recording their debut album Side Effects Expected. Working with producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Hatesphere, Raunchy) CENTAURUS-A laid down an album with 10 unique and outstanding songs of technical death/thrash metal with an appropriate modern and aggressive straight-in-your-face sound. CENTAURUS-A signed a worldwide record deal on LISTENABLE RECORDS and in March 2009, Side effects expected hit the metal scene with all its force, demonstrating the songwriting strengths and diverse musicianship of the band and taking fans and critics by surprise. Since the release of Side effects expected CENTAURUS-A has played numerous club shows in Europe with bands like Gojira and Hatesphere as well as some big summer festivals (Metal Camp, Legacy Fest) and is going to become an established act of today's tech death metal scene.
