Interests

  • General

Music, automation, tools, instruments, physics, soccer, baseball, archetecture, film/video/media, flying, cars, woodworking, mechanicals, design, engeneering, networks, internet marketing, my wife, investing and markets, electronics, fine art, my art, computer pieces, construction, landscaping, plumbing, photosynthesys, reverse engeneering. I am pretty much interested in anything, but I gravitate toward the tech sector. (Yes, my wife is a hardcore computer geek so she counts)
  • Music

I have over 9 shelves of CD's. That is about 85GB or 18, 000 songs, 90, 000 minutes, 1500 hours, or 62 days of constant music. It is hard to have a favorite. I do seem to cycle through the whole collection every year or so.
  • Movies

  • Television

mmmmm not so much... a little odd I know because I produce things for radio and TV. There never is anythign good on. I watched CSI for a while, but I like movies better. Fewer ads/beter medium.
  • Books

The encyclopedia, the real book one. Crap! I admitted that again... I read design books, marketing books, business theory, markets and investing. Not much fiction.
  • Heroes

My Grandfather, The greatest man I have known. Taught me how to live well and enjoy life to the fullest.

Blurbs

About me:

High "D", High "I", High "geek"...Hmmmm. That pretty much describes me if you know what the DiSC test is. I produce/direct short films and commercials, as well as helping companies and non-profits develop their brand, and design A/V systems and radio/TV studios. That is where the logical "D" comes in. I do a lot of creative photography/videography, Belong to the Dallas Design Group, Teach classes in video/film/web production, lead the communications/Media team at my church, have my own video studio, and travel the US and exotic locations supporting executive level presentations. I love hanging out with people and creating art in almost any form. That I assume is where the fun and creative High "I" is most evident. I love Technology and gadgets, my friends think I am strange sometimes when I try to discover how things work, but that's ok. That is where the high "geek" part comes in. Ok so Geek isn't actully one of the quadrents on that perticular personality test, but I have a feeling that they will add it soon.... would it be a quindrent if there were 5? Hmmm? Enough about that.

I live in Arlington TX, Where my beautiful wife and I just bought a house. It is quite a nice little house, and I am glad if only for this reason, that I do not live in Chicago land anymore.

I drive a computer that is more expensive and faster than my car, and I work on a car that is slower than a stick... of birch..wood.... Slower than even a low horsepower stick of birch. My mom uses goofy expressions like that, and I am not sure exactlly what they mean, but you are taught these things in your childhood, and it is weird how often they pop up when you least expect.

A little known fact about me is that I sleep on the floor... yeah. the thing you walk on. I started doing that when I went to college and there was like 100 square feet of room to live in with nailed down furnature effectivly leaving you with nothing. I put my skimpy foam mattress on the floor and used the space ontop of my hard wooden bed for a nice chair, and a desk for my now long since retired computer and stuff. I traded on and off the solid wooden bed over those years, but the net effect was still the same. When I moved on, I just never bought a bed. Getting married and upgrading to the land above the floor has been an adjustment. After all these years of floor it is awkward to sleep 3 feet above it again. Being in bed with a beautiful woman is all the motivation I need to stay in my perch. But the floor is still my friend, but I havn't visited in a longitudinal, laying down fassion since my wedding.

I have other little known facts... and many more known facts. So sometime I will write about them. I am sure some of you all have some that would be worth putting here... let me know which ones are good enough.

Who I'd like to meet:

Hmmm People. Preferably in person. I can't say famous people, cause I have met more than I can remember... I don't know what the obsession is with famous people. Most of them are full of themselves anyway. Homeless people are way cool. I mean the real ones, not the drunks who beg for change on the street corners. I will buy them dinner at McDonnalds or something and listen to their stories. I help them out whenever I can, but they are cool because they have no ego to hide behind. They are some of the most genuine people I have ever met. I also love to talk to specialists in almost any field and get specifics on their occupation directofrom the experts.
