People always thank Soldiers for "defending our freedom." Seriously; who is more likely to take away your life, liberty or property; some 2-bit third-world dictator? Or some politico in Washington?
Every citizen has an obligation to defend freedom against politicians, special interests, and our own desire to tell people how to live and spend their money. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "The Price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance."
I agree; I think that unless one of the Parties takes the Constitutional mantel and runs with it in 2010, there may be an opportunity for a third party to enter the stage in a big way... and you know what? I'd vote for 'em.
