The Circle of Life

I had to get my adorable black dwarf rabbit euthanised today. She was suffering from a terrible eye infection. Her eye was swollen to the size of a marble and was an oozing red and white mucusy mess. I bought her the medicationn, which was over a hundred dollars (which includes the initial office visit). I wasn't too thrilled with that, but I couldn't be neglectful of her life. I tried to give her it all the time, but with work and sleeping in, I missed several days of giving her the  oral antibiotics and the ointment for her eye. I am a little upset with myself for spending all of that money only knowing it would not work out. If this is a lesson to learn from, then I learned not to get in over my head with things like this. I should have taken better care of my Ebony. She was the first rabbit I had, and was my pet for six years. I loved rabbits ever since i was a girl and probably always wanted one. I will bury her in the wheatfield by my house in the morning. The ironic thing is, is that I am wearing a black jacket that has black rabbit fur on the collar which my mom gave me on Christmas. I will always be reminded of her whenever I am wearing this.

I later found out that six is about the average life span of rabbits so I didn't feel so bad.
