   About Thommy Price
Being a Blackheart:
For more than 18 years not, I have been a Blackheart. In the beginning I was just playing on Joans records, but I was not really in the band. Kenny Laguna would call me all the time and say Are you ready yet? At the time I was in Mink DeVille and touring all over Europe for months at a time. What really sold me on being a Blackheart was a show I saw them do at Radio City one year. It was unbelievable. I watched the whole show from the sound desk, so I was able to see the whole stage. It reminded me of seeing The Who. It didnt just sound great, it was like seeing a really great play or choreographed dance. Whether or not they planned it, the band was moving together and flowing perfectly. It was a perfect show. It was beautiful to watch. I left Radio City that night saying thats the band I need to be in. It was a gang a perfect rock and roll gang.

Tom Verlaine, Dreamtime/Words From the Front (Collector’s Choice Music): I’ve always made room in my pantheon for late-’70s N.Y. punk-rock legends Television and their enigmatic leader since penning my first-ever professional review on Marquee Moon back in 1977 for the old Soho Weekly News, receiving the princely sum of $5. I’m also quoted in their Wikipedia entry, so I still feel a bit of ownership. These two reissues from 1981 and ’82, originally distributed by Warner Bros., represent Verlaine’s second and third solo albums (of a total of nine) after his self-titled debut on Elektra, also the home of Television’s first two releases. Removed some 27 years from the bitterness of the band’s split, especially his interlocking duets with guitar-mate Richard Lloyd, it’s easier to hear the transition today. With an idiosyncratic, nimble style which owed as much from studying jazzers like Coltrane and Wes Montgomery as it did to acid-rock folk-blues forebears like Jerry Garcia and Quicksilver’s John Cippolina (a comparison he always eschewed in conversation), Verlaine essentially did Television Mach II on Dreamtime, with bandmates Fred Smith on bass and frequent collaborator, Patti Smith Group drummer Jay Dee Daughtry, featuring songs like “There’s a Reason,” the double-entendre “Penetration,” the extended “Little Johnny Jewel”-like jam, “Down on the Farm,” and the sardonic “Always” (with its apt refrain, “The best-kept secret in town”), which would’ve fit right into his former group’s repertoire. Tom’s own underrated, deadpan sense of humor comes through on songs like the tongue-in-cheek “Mr. Blur,” while the closing “Mary Marie” shows him starting to expand to a larger palette, something he continues to explore on the follow-up, Words From the Front. On that album, he shifted personnl, hooking up with guitarist Jimmy Rip (who remains a bandmate to this day) and Mink DeVille’s rhythm section of the late bassist Joe Vasta and drummer Tommy Price.

I just read where Iggy Pop and his band had all their stage gear stolen this morning up in Montreal. Here's the myspace link with the details and description, with serial numbers, of the gear that was lost in the rip off.

I know it's a real longshot but maybe some of it can be recovered and the assholes captured!

Like my new back up band?

The old one unfortunately went the way of that imploding drummer in Spinal Tap.

Very tragic.
