Some of my all time favorites are: Where the Wild Things Are, Catcher in The Rye & Nine Stories, The Bluest Eye & The Song of Solomon, Cry The Beloved Country, The Sun Also Rises, Things Fall Apart, Awakening, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Cat's Cradle, and The God of Small things...
About me: I'm doing a lot of work on me right now. I'm having fun exploring, messing up, learning, meeting new people, finding out who I am and what I want to do. This is what I know so far: I am a strict vegetarian, a liberal Christian, an aspiring chef, a friend, a lover, an activist, a behind-doors writer, and a part time world traveler. I live out west, but it's only a matter of time before I end up back home on the east coast. I have the 3 most wonderful dogs on the face of the planet. I have a bunny named Poptart. My two main vices that I will never overcome: spending lots of money on really great coffee, and spending lots of money on really hot underwear. I always dress inappropriately for the weather. I think it should only be cold if it's going to snow. I think that everyone should wear mittens as opposed to gloves. I'm pretty sure I'm kind of quirky. I daydream a lot, and I am endlessly curious. I almost never notice awkward silences. I'm always thinking and trying to figure things out. I grow quiet when something's on my mind. Patience is not one of my strongest virtues. I like going to ethnic food markets and buying anything I can't identify so I can experiment later. I love cooking when I'm drunk, and feeding people is probably one of my favorite activities on the planet. The mountains stir my soul, but I love the ocean and miss it terribly. I am a beer snob, but I'll never complain about having a 40 in my hand. I can't not recycle. I love people watching. It annoys me when people leave me voice messages only to tell me to call them back. I am almost completely a "guy's girl," but I have a few soft edges. I can go out to a bar in torn jeans, a t-shit, and flip flops and be a rock star. I can also slip into a designer dress and strap on stilettos and show off the class I was born with in the south. I love live music from almost any genre. I dance and sing around the house when no one else is home. I can read books and listen to music for hours, but not at the same time. I don't like reading before bed, but I love reading for an hour or two when I first wake up. I almost always prefer to be outdoors than in. Someday I want a huge organic garden complete with a flock of fat chickens. I'm not comfortable in large groups. I love people watching. I prefer people with edge. I have an amazing group of core friends who get me. They and my family mean more to me than they'll ever know. I am extremely protective and surprisingly maternalistic. I like to put up a tough front but I'm extremely sensitive. A weekend at a vineyard is a great way to my heart. Sometimes it takes a while for me to let people in- but once you're in, you're in. I love love. Conor Oberst will always be my "get out of jail free card"- if you know what I mean. When everything goes wrong, I stop trying and just have a good time. I like saying "yes ma'am," and "yes sir." I also like saying "Bar Keep, I'll have another!"
Who I'd like to meet: People who Love. people who are complex. people who are intelligent. people who are curious. people who can appreciate and be captivated by the smallest things. people who are secure in themselves but are still searching, learning, and teaching...and also a wombat.
Haha sugar butt...nice! I got a double dose later: Giants and Yankees at the same time! I figured out how to put both games on the flatscreen at once! Andale andale mami Bia Bia UH OHHH!!
I'm still in Newport News doing one more year for my Master's degree in teaching,... from there I really have no idea. Haha I'd love it if I could find a high school band director job in Colorado, though. I think my mom would have a heart attack. Empty nest hit her way too hard. When do you come out this way? Next time you do you'll have to find me. If you still use facebook i've got all my contact info on there. If not you can always send me a message on here and hopefully I'll check it before you've come and gone. Not really any updates to speak of. Graduation was cool. It rained. I'm staying single for the time being because I barely have enough downtime for myself these days, let alone another person. Unemployed because I'm always doing school work, logging field hours, or observing. I might start teaching some private piano lessons and jazz lessons if I can build up some clients. Tryin to play some live jazz around the area but people don't have money enough to drink, so bars can't seem to pay live musicians as well as they used to. What about you? How's life? What are you doing? Wanna send me some beer?
so i got on myspace for the first time in coons' ages, and I saw your new pictures and i was compelled to tell you that I miss you a ton, and that its very unfortunate I didn't get a chance to come to Colorado last year. no matter what, if I do come out to Denver, I'm totally dropping by Boulder for a spell. we'll see, though. if not October for that beer festival, then maybe next summer.
I really really really miss you!!! I think you should meet me in Costa and travel around the rainforests with me. I wanna go to a sloth reserve! Don't you wanna hold a sloth?!
