Confessions of a Feral Friend's Interests
|
| General | Renegade forestry and solar architecture.
Lots of folks would remember my love for the sea. At the age of sixteen I realized that the oceans start in the forested mountains at nineteen or twenty or so I decided to pursue the health of the forests as a goal.
To see the forest for the trees...
And then there is so much more to do to occupy the mind I could not even list it here.
Tech committee, surveyor for the Upper Pecos Watershed association.....
blah blah | | Music | Egads! Could there be enough room?
To put a juxtaposition to it I love Michael Franti as well as James McMurtry & Steve Earle.
A bunch of the old stuff and a bunch of da newish stuff.
But mostly folks from around here.
Like Sean Helean.
Like The Santa Fe Allstars and there off the Planet variations
Joe West (real name, Real dude, Real music)And his alter ego Zoe Fitzgerald
Sharon Gilchrist plays w/ Peter Rowan as well.
And a bunch of the rest too.
| | Movies | Don't see to many stinking movies. | | Television | Don't have no stinking TV | | Books | Although disappointed with "Gardens In The Dunes" I do so Love Leslie Marmon Silko. "Ceremony" being just about the perfect piece of literature. "Almanac Of The Dead" will always haunt my conscience.
Been reading Tolstoy of late, Okay.
Stick myself with the aforementioned Robert Fisk, John Pilger and the like. Important, required reading for all folks of European descent. Greg Palast & Jim Hightower too, but they're a hoot to read.
If you have not read Ward Churchill's "A Little Matter Of Genocide" or just about anything by Emma Goldman, Howard Zinn And the the Nome Chomsky you should not be allowed to vote.
To read, to read, if only I had more time to do so... | | Heroes | Umm, Look above and throw in the rest of the classic leftist heroes, Guys like Rod Grey, who gave me my first real thinning job, John Morris who taught me how to cut stone, season to taste, stir briskly and at the last moment throw in my kids and my dearest sweet love too.
And myself 'cause nothing counts until we find the hero in ourselves. |

Confessions of a Feral Friend's Blurbs |
About me:
"Mason eagerly rushes to inspect the Map of the
Boundaries, almost instantly boggling, for there bold
as a Pirate's Flag is an eight-pointed Star,
surmounted by a Fleur-de-Lis.
"'What's this thing here? [...] Doth it not
signify, England's most inveterately hated Rival?
France?'
"'All respect, Mason,-- among Brother and Sister
Needle-folk in ev'ry Land, 'tis known universally, as
the "Flower-de-Luce." A Magnetickal Term.'
"'Flower of Light'? Light, hey? Sounds
Encyclopedistick to me, perhaps even Masonick,' says
Mason.
"A Surveyor's North-Point, Dixon explains, by long
Tradition, is his own [...]. It becomes his Hall-Mark
[...]. Further, as with many Glyphs, 'tis important
ever to keep Faith with it,-- for an often enormous
Investment of Faith, and Will, lies condens'd within,
giving it a Potency in the World that the Agents of
Reason care little for.
"''Tis an ancient Shape, said to go back to the
earliest Italian Wind-Roses,' says Dixon, '--
originally, at the North, they put the Letter T, for
Tramontane, the Wind that blew down from the Alps...?
Over the years, as ever befalls such frail
Bric-a-Brack as Letters of the Alphabet, it was beaten
into a kind of Spear-head,-- tho' the kinder-hearted
will aver it a Lily, and clash thy Face, do tha deny
it.'"
"'Perhaps, for this Map alone,' it occurs to Mason,
'as East and West are of the Essence, North need
hardly be indicated at all, need it? Or, suppose you
were to sketch in something...less politickal?'
"'This has been my North Point,' Dixon declares,
'since the first Map I ever drew. I cannot very
readily forswear it, now, Sir, for some temporary
Tradesman's Sign. It does not generally benefit the
Surveyor to debase the Value of his North Point, by
lending it to ends Politickal. 'Twould be to betray
my Allegiance to Earth's Magnetism, earth Herself if
tha like, which my Flower-de-Luce stands faithfully as
the Emblem of...?'
"Making no more sense of this than he ever may,
Mason shrugs. 'It may sit less comfortably with the
Proprietors, than with me.'

Who I'd like to meet:
Blah Blah Blah.I've already met Daniel Ellsburg, Allen Ginsburg (busted w/ 04/28/79 @Rocky Flats), Amy Goodman, Jim Hightower & Greg Palast at events.
Not sure how much I would like to have a scotch with Robert Fisk and John Pilger, Although I would like to thank them.
Wish I could have tipped a pint with Molly Ivans and Robert Hunter, Did meet that other Greenpeacer on the bridge of the Honao Kai.
Wouldn't Want to meet that Zimmerman dude 'cause he'd probably get the wrong idea.
Would like to meet Jefferson to ask what was internal conflict and the variables of reconciling goals and dreams.
A few days before 9/11 I was at my step son's first day of school ceremony and my stomach went topsy turvy, and the hair on the back of my neck stook up, turned around to see Donald H Rumsfeld. So I sure as hell don't want to meet any more of those scallywags, scumbags, vegetating blobs of protoplasm.
