89 was formed 7 or 8 years ago when The Vat needed a fill in band. Cory, Pete and Rob proceeded to take the stage and rock out covers from the 80's and 90's, hence the name "89".
Random facts:
- Once finished 3rd in a battle of the bands.
- Have been known to serve hot dogs from the stage.
- Once had people in the crowd ask for their money back.
- Have done gigs with 5 different drummers, Rob and Jay are the regulars.
- Jay once played an entire night only a few weeks after breaking his back.
- Once covered "Since U Been Gone", once was enough
- Drank Wild Bill's out of Jagermeister on New Years Eve
