After performing with groups such as Plexus & Las Perras del Infierno, Merche Blasco formed Burbuja as a vehicle for her own musical exploration. Since it’s conception 2 years ago she has participated & collaborated with various artists, establishing a strong relationship between different mediums of artistic expression & her own musical direction. She has composed music to accompany the sculptures of Lucy Orta at the Venice biennale & soundtracks for videos & installations by the artists of FABRICA.
Cristian Vogel (for whom Burbuja had previously contributed vocals to the track “Monkey Inc.” from the album “Station 55”-novamute 2005) meticulously edited the field recordings that Burbuja collected during 2 years living in different European cities. Further tracking & vocal takes were then recorded at the Station 55 studio, creating an intimate debut of found sound & haunting melodies. The 13 songs offer a glimpse into a fragile & introspective artistic microcosm where everyday activities such as cooking, riding a bike or eating breakfast serve as sound sources & lyrical themes. Burbuja’s whispery voice is accompanied by an ensemble made up of ticking clocks, scissors, an egg whisk, distant thunder, & like the original musique concrete masterpieces, the sounds are left to exude their inherent, natural beauty, within a song format. Burbuja invites the listener to tip-toe through her delicate & deeply personal mix of realism & fantasy.
The debut of burbuja was presented on last Sónar 2007 and has been touring for the past 2 years in different cities in Europe and USA.
Live performances of burbuja go beyond music by using different means to share her inner world with the audience.The show has evolved together with the project, always trying to offer to the audience something new, something that breaths just as the music does.
Merche Blasco (electronics, vocals) and Carlos del Valle (virüs) (guitar, synths) are in charge of the music section. The guitars of the first album belong to Federico Urdaneta (pusconsangre).

Burbuja is currently recording her second album "theTEST", which shall be released next 2009 (Merche Blasco: electronics, vocals / Carlos del Valle: guitar, synths), co-produced by Cristian Vogel and Joe Robinson.
