This duo was something I was really into a couple of years back now. Jim and I wrote all the songs on this album and recorded them in my dining room with Jim's handy dandy digital eight-track recorder. All of the songs on here were written by either one of us, or in most cases, both of us. I believe these songs were written between the years 1998 - 2002. Good lord, was it really that long ago. haha. During that time I did this Connecituct Idol thing on 96.5 TIC and actually won. I was then awarded the chance to go and meet with some record lable guy up in Boston, who listened to our CD. After giving it a listen, he said some positive things but then told me that because we don't really have a genre, we will never make it. While I do understand the concept I don't feel Jim or I could do anything to change this problem. We wrote how we were feeling. If that was mad, rage filled, happy, in love or lonely we would write how we were feeling...thus the songs being all fairly different from one another.
Now....in 2006, Jim and I are kinda doing our own thing. However, I approcahed Jim a few weeks ago with a CD's worth of music that I have written myself and I wanted him to arrange the songs and record them with me. While the new music will no longer be Evermind, we will still be working together on bigger and better albums.
While Evermind is no more, the duo of Derek and Jim continues....
