About me: This is the MySpace presence for MORE THAN MUSIC , a book work in progress attempting to document a period of punk, hardcore, and American counter-culture marked by a revival of radical politics, the synergy of music and activism, the renascence of a regional and nationwide DIY network, and the "re-undergrounding" of 'American Hardcore.'
Participants--from bands to photographers to those with distros, flier packrats and whoever--are all invited to get in touch to share their experiences.
This chapter of punk has only become ripe for analysis now. Let's tell the story ourselves before someone else tells it all wrong.

** NOTE:This book is entirely seperate from the book Burning Fight, which also explores 90s HC. That book was written by Brian Peterson from Chicago, and is scheduled to be released on Revelation Records. I will be releasing a bootleg version of his book called "Chung King and Brian P Can Suck It" just to demonstrate how committed I am to capturing the neurotically DIY side of the 90s.
Who I'd like to meet: Folks who attended shows, organized shows and fests, played in bands, took photos, did zines, scooped vegan chili at the Food Not Bombs table, ran workshops, drove hundreds of miles to see Man is the Bastard play on some lawn, called their friends back home with a dialer, could barely stay awake at Kinko's, and all the nerds in between who are willing to share their experiences of the 90s DIY hardcore scene, circa '90-1997.

Them
see, MK-Ultra apparently is too "behind the times" to realize that Downcast and I are trying to challenge these old punk rituals. Start the pit? How about we try starting a deconstruction of the colonial experience as it pertains to Evanston record shops, .... grow up you jocks.
Respect for Mikey, long time Philly punk who contributed a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and action to our scene. He was a good guy and someone whom many people will miss and never forget.
I hope all is well Mike. It would be great to see you. I'm playing in Philly on Oct 11, don't know if I will have much free time though. Anyway, come to New England sometime. Peace!
