About me:
- The name Alden means Good Friend in old English.
- Had one kindergarten, two Grade Schools, two Junior Highs and two High Schools
- Have never met a computer I couldn't crash
- As a consequence of the above, I spend a lot of my time working with computers
- Never tell me that someone "can't learn".
- As a child I named one of our cats Milk Bottles for reasons nobody seems to remember.
- Was once almost a Physics Major. My friend Max and I had even been elected to the student advisory committee, but at the last moment we both got sucked into the humanities.
- My first car was a lovely 1985 Saab 900 dark blue 4 door.
- The world would be a better place if SUV drivers and their families were the first to be sent off to war.
- Nothing earns my respect faster than taking responsibility for your own mistake.
- Cats (and apparently some dogs) like me.
- There are jocks who I respect and admire, but they are few and far between.
- Was once a certified lifeguard.
- Smoking:
- I have never smoked. Anything. Ever.
- Although I respect people's right to do as they see fit, there are still no known forces of attraction which would lead me to live with someone who smoked.
- If you're a musician and your first name is Kenny, odds are I don't like listening to you.
- Despite many attempts and a good deal of coaching I can not float on my back. My legs sink.
- Like a Mig fighter jet at high speed, my life often appears to be an exercise in controlled chaos.

- If forced to choose, the ideal me would be able to fly, but secretly the real me would choose invisibility.
- Can't remember names to save my life but I can't forget faces even when I try, so please don't be offended, I do remember who you are and what you mean to me.
- Can juggle. Not enough to make it worth bragging about, just thought you'd like to know.
- When I was young I used to get debilitating migraine headaches that would wipe me out for 12-24 hours at a stretch. I still get them occasionally, but only 2-3 a year instead of a month.
- Have a large vocabulary, but I can't spell worth a damn
- Was born the same year Apple sold their first computer and we've been like this (fingers crossed) pretty much ever since
- Do not own any video games.
- Have never bought a Windoz machine
- Despite the above statements, I'm really pretty OS agnostic. I view computers as tools, not toys, and I use whatever tool is best suited to the job at hand.
- Got a lot of vegetarian friends, don't eat much meat myself, but I've never been a picky eater and I'm not going to start now (especially with the cuisines of Africa and much of Asia still untasted).
- Am mechanically talented. I've fixed everything from electric toasters to computers to automotive ignition systems. I get a big thrill out of seeing something work again.
- Played the sax all through JH/HS, both bari & alto.
- Played in a Javanese Gamelan Ensemble for a year or so.
- Straight but not narrow.
- Playing sports or certain types of games brings out a competitive side of my personality which you won't see anywhere else. I still prefer to compete against myself though.
- At heart a conservative, but not a namby-pamby Republican like Georgie-boy and his cronies. No. I believe in hanging on to things that are tangibly worth preserving, like fiscal responsibility, a civil society, untouched wilderness, humanity and peace.
- Dirty food containers should be rinsed immediately after the meal is completed, or at the very least, put in the kitchen sink to soak. If there is insufficient space in your sink to soak any more containers, you are at least three days overdue for a dishwashing session.
- Three regular meals is an important part of my day, getting in the way of them will not endear you to me.
