Novembro is something new. Portuguese sentiment at its most profound, but not in the kind of recycled format we’ve heard countless times before.
Novembro is real Portuguese music; heartfelt, innovative and delivered with intense feeling, an intoxicating mix of pop, world music and 21st century Fado, with the Portuguese guitar floating in an atmosphere of dense, dreamy electronic clouds interspersed with percussive raindrops.
Miguel Filipe writes and sings. His lyrics stand on the shoulders of the great Portuguese poets, with traditional stories of longing and love lost amidst the cityscape and its people; indeed, modern life captured by the human lens.
With more than a dozen songs ready for recording, including rousing versions of songs by such celebrated Fado singers as Amalia Rodrigues (Algemas) and Fernando Mauricio (Tantos Fados Deu-me a Vida), Novembro has already caught the attention of a number of renowned industry figures, such as popular radio presenter Henrique Amaro (Antena 3) and leading Portuguese musician, Rodrigo Leao.
