9yroldMudflesh has been playing together since 1991. In that time they have had only one session outside of playing live or recording in the studio, and have gained and lost two players. Mudflesh prides itself in never having a rehersal or written any songs. Primarily based in kent, Ohio, they cut their teeth playing battle of the worst bands gigs in Cleveland and various punk and experimental shows around NEO throughout the early and mid- nineties. they have played few "Bowie-okie" shows, a DEVOtional festival, and countless underground events at the infamous Mantis Gallery in Kent.
The band is comprised of uber-prolific visual artists and long time rock and roll dinosaurs. Men approaching middle-age with a lifetime of basking in the arcane and the absurd. Men destroying their eardrums, their train of thought*, and their livers with the power of trance and drone and sonic blizzard, ritualistically punishing one another with sound and yet saving each other's souls at the same moment. Mudflesh glosses over the common role of the noise band and creates improvised stories through the use of bizzare instrumentation, and the sheer psychic willpower and lucidity of their front-person, Neal Beefcake Supreme. Bask in the glory and shame that is human and ultimatly unique to 9yroldMudflesh.
