It's always intriguing and sometimes surprising how two musicians eventually find their way to each other. You can call it luck, or chance. Or you might just want to call it the way things were meant to be.
In this case, it went something like this: one, a native of Lexington, NC leaves home and goes off to school. The other, a newcomer to the area, searches long and hard for a kindred musical spirit. Then the first moves back home. The newcomer hears the hometown boy perform at a local event. Afterwards they talk about getting together to play sometime. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Steve Lindsley (the newcomer) and Ken “McIver” Davis (the native son) began jamming together in the fall of 2000 and compiled a set list of covers and originals. Each brought a unique element to the duo: Ken a soulful, romantic swagger and Steve a methodic guitar style and precise vocals. Immediately a musical bond formed between the two; and just a month later they performed together for the first time at the popular coffee house and eatery in town, The March Café. In the spring of 2001, having thought long and hard about a name (“Ken and Steve” just didn’t flow off the tongue all that well), they came up with acoustic blend – capturing in one phrase their musical foundation and the coffee house where it all started.
Since then, acoustic blend has been playing regularly, much to the delight of their fans. They've been “regulars” at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, the Wolf’s Lair restaurant in Dobson NC, and the Good Life Café and Scuppernong's in Mount Airy NC. In addition they’ve performed at numerous wineries, country clubs, coffee houses, and community functions across the region. Even with Steve's move up Hwy. 52 to the fabled Mayberry in 2003, they still find time to share their musical gifts together.
When you catch an acoustic blend show you’re guaranteed to experience an entertaining mix of both covers and originals; songs with depth and fun tunes, soothing ballads as well as music you can stomp your feet to. Two guitars playing off each other with great expertise, two voices exchanging strong lead vocals and melodic harmonies – one musical act you don’t want to miss.

I haven't heard you guys play recently since I'm now at ASU. I used to work with Ken at Yarborough's, and I would listen to you guys when you played at Davidson County Community College. It's been a while since I've seen you; however, I would love to see you perform again!
I thought about you guys while tailgating last week! I was walking through one of the ASU parking lots and someone was listeing to "Million Dollars" by BNL! I thought to myself, awww I want to hear Acoustic Blend sing it right now! I hope you guys are doing well! Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

We have added a third song to our site. The new one is called "Can You Hear Me Now" -- let us know what you think! A fourth song will be added in 24 - 48 hours, so check back again for that.
The songs on our site are draft, first take recordings done in the bedroom of our lead guitarist, complete with flaws and timing issues and such background noise as spinning fans and giggling babies. We are laying down new and improved versions of these songs and several new tunes for a 10 song CD we hope to have available at our debut live performance on July 21st at The Good Life Cafe in Mount Airy. Included on the demo CD is our twisted cover of "Riders On the Storm" by The Doors.
If you can't get a copy of our CD on July 21st but wish to own a copy, just let us know. Meanwhile, thanks for being our friend and for checking out our music. You Rock!
Thank you so much for being a friend of our band, Messenger. We're leaving you this comment not only to thank you for adding us to your MySpace network of friends but to also invite you to check out our new song, "Plastic Martyr" -- hope you like it. Let us know your thoughts and be honest -- we can take it!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sending a friend request. Your music reminds me a lot of the acoustic tunes I played with the friend who wrote "This Old House" (on my profile, still lives in W-S, BTW). Great memories! Great fun! Great music!
Thank you so much for being our friend. Come check us out on July 21st at The Good Life Cafe in Mt Airy if you can. We have just launched our MySpace site and have many changes to the site coming soon, so please do visit us again -- and check out our new song, "Either Way."
Musicians of Mayberry is hosting our debut performance. The event is called "A Mid Summer's Night: an Evening of Acoustic Rock" -- because it'll be the evening of the Summer Solstice. $5 for a 7pm - 10pm show featuring CatchLight, Rodie Ray, Never Say...
