The A.D. Collective, a Santa Fe-based group of emerging artists, opened its doors to the public on Friday 31 March, 2006 for an exhibit of small-scale works of various media entitled Chapter I.
The A.D. Collective is the result of the collaborative efforts of a small group of young artists living and working in Santa Fe after having studied, traveled and worked elsewhere. The members of A.D. Collective are joined by a shared bond with their mentor and former teacher Gary Myers and a desire to follow in his footsteps in creating a supportive environment for the younger generation of local artists.
The works gathered in A.D. Collective Chapter I were the result of weekly group workshops in the original gallery/studio space, now replaced by the Collective's Siler Road Gallery, where individual and collaborative explorations take place. Each artist brings to the table skills in different media.
The result is an eclectic mix of art and ideas.
Since Chapter I, AD Collective has produced over a dozen openings and community events.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the works goes to funding community outreach projects. A primary objective of A.D. Collective is to create workshops in which Santa Fe teens can benefit from the mentorship of older members, thereby creating a sustainable continuity across generations.
