Though just into her teens, Alexis exhibits a poise and focus that far belies her young age. But then, the talented Oregon native started performing at fairs and festivals as a six-year-old, was singing for then- President Clinton at a fundraiser by the time she was eight, landed a coveted publishing deal at 11, and has already been asked to penned songs for films like, "Ella Enchanted" and "Hidalgo." Alexis has recently had her song "The Real Me" featured in the film "Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen," it is both in the film and on the sound track. She has accomplished all of this and recorded an album on Warner Brothers record Nashville all by the ripe old age of 15. Now at 16 she's already achieved more than some people do in a lifetime...but then, she's always been sort of driven.
Her mom knew she was in trouble, when, as a six-year-old, Alexis asked her quite seriously while watching the CMA Awards one night how she would know which way to go to get up onstage when picking up her award. From that point on, there was no going back for the precocious young talent, who soon learned to play guitar, piano, and even the drums, and began making up funny words to songs on the radio and eventually writing her own lyrics as well. She began performing at fairs and festivals around the area, and was soon opening for artists like Keith Urban, Tracy Byrd and Sawyer Brown and playing to crowds as big as 50,000 at shows like Countryfest around the country.
With her mother's help, Alexis wrote her first song, "Forever," in 1996, and a collaboration that started as a lark proved to be fateful for the pair, who continued writing together and eventually landed a West Coast publishing deal and even piqued the attention of uber-producer Glen Ballard. Having launched the career of another talented teen who would go on to sell millions, Alanis Morissette, Ballard gave Alexis some sage advice she has always heeded and cherished - "always be true to you." And since she had grown up watching country videos and listening to favorite artists like Reba and Patsy Cline, Alexis knew her heart was really in country music.
Word of her talent soon reached Nashville, and she was taking meetings with some of Nashville's biggest producers and label heads, including Warner Bros. head Jim Ed Norman. Norman who was impressed with Alexis' talent so he introduced her to the Paul Worley, the label's Chief Creative Officer, who signed her to Warner Bros. Worley tapped Kyle Lehning to co-produce her album, which features 10 songs written or co-written by Alexis with renowned writers like Tammy Hyler, Don Cook, Tom Douglas and Ballard, among others.
In addition to her song writing, Alexis continues to tour and perform around the country, and recently wrapped a 5-month stint performing in one of Branson's top stage shows as a singer and dancer. With such talent, beauty, and poise this young lady is bound for stardom.
