If you came over from Michael and Christine Cortright's site, all of the songs in the Myspace media player (up top) except for "I Saw the Light" plus 21 songs in the IPOD player (below) are on the CD. If there are any particular songs you want, let me know which ones and I will customize your CD for you.
One of the songs in the Myspace media player (above) was recorded in a bar back in 1975 when I was with a band called "Amazing Grace".
If you'd like to hear some more band songs Click Here
If you'd like to listen to some more of my songs, I loaded 66 of them in the media player below (it looks like an IPOD). To listen to these songs; first turn off the Myspace Media player at the top of the page or you'll hear two songs at the same time.
To advance the song list in the media player below, click on the right arrow. To play a song, double click the song title. If you can't see the player below, it may be because you don't have the latest version of Adobe Flash player installed in your browser. It's required in order to view flash players (both audio and video). if you want to install the Adobe Flash Player, here's the link: Adobe Flash Player
(Oh, and don't get scared by the spooky Myspace page that comes up about pishing after you click the link. It's just a Myspace cautionary warning because it wasn't a Myspace link that you clicked.)
A few videos of me. One was filmed in 1989 by Bruce, one of the guys in our neighborhood and all the others were filmed in 1991 by my husband Johnny on our neighbor's camcorder. Pretty scratchy. Copied them over from VCR tapes. And there is also one of Johnny.
(If the video stops and starts, just hit the "Pause" button and let it load for a few seconds and then hit "Play" again.) And, once again, I believe the Adobe Flash player is required to view the videos also.
This was filmed in the Bronx one summer night in 1989 at the park on Bronx Park East just south of Lydig Ave in the Pelham Parkway area. Some friends of ours were putting on a concert in the neighborhood and they asked me to play while they were on their break. It was filmed by Bruce who brought his camcorder and was nice enough to give me a copy of the tape.
HE'S COMING BACK FOR ME
Bio:
First off, here's a quick run down of my S.O.B. (statement of belief) ;-).
1 - I believe that there is only ONE God who is the Father.
(1Corinthians 8:6)
And to me one means one. It doesn't mean three and it doesn't mean three in one.
God is a Spirit, (John 4:24) He is not a man. Neither is He the son of man. (Numbers 23:19).
2 - I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. His sinless seed (Luke 1:35) was created by God in the womb of Mary but, through his love and obedience to God his Father, Jesus KEPT himself sinless to his last breath that he may present himself as the pure Lamb of God, the sacrifice for the sin of all mankind.
3) I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead never to die again and that we are saved by our confession of Jesus as Lord (kurios, meaning: Master, Ruler) believing in our heart that God raised him from the dead. (Romans 10:9 & 10) Once saved, we are sealed with the holy spirit until the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)
4) I believe that we are in the Age of Grace which began on the day of Pentecost with the coming of the gift of holy spirit and will end when Jesus appears in the clouds to gather all those born of the spirit from among the dead and the living. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) This is commonly referred to as "the Rapture".
And, in this age of grace we are saved by grace (undeserved favor), not by our works, but by faith in the work of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8 & 9, Romans 11:6)
5) I believe that Jesus will take the whole body of Christ out of the world before the 7 year period begins when the world will be judged (aka: the day of wrath). We have been saved from wrath through Christ. (Romans 5:9, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:9)
6) I believe that those who died believing in Jesus Christ are dead and will not revive until Jesus comes and raises them incorruptible. (1 Corinthians 15:53 & 54, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
7) I believe the Church is the body Christ, made up of saved Jews and Gentiles. Not a building, and not a sect, cult, organization or denomination. I do not subscribe to the dividing up of the body of Christ into denominations. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder!
8) I believe that every one who is born of the holy spirit can speak by the holy spirit, in other words: speak in tongues. Tongues is not a gift but a manifestation of the gift of holy spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:7 )
Still with me? heh. Ok. Here's my bio:
I've been saved since 1974. Or should I say, that's when I KNEW I was saved because that's when I spoke in tongues. I am a firm believer that every one who is born of God's spirit, has the ability to worship, pray and give thanks by way of that spirit (aka: speak in tongues.) For more on this, see blog entries above)
And since then, I have been on a path that sometimes makes you feel like you are on top of the world and sometimes leads you to say: "what the heck is going on in my life!"
But you keep on keepin' on because you know God loves you. How do you know God loves you? Because He gave His only begotten son (a.k.a. Jesus) that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. That's the foundation and it never fluctuates no matter what you are going through.
Pretty average person, as religion continues to be exposed and removed from my life (a work in progress). And by religion, I don't mean devoutness, as the word is usually defined. I mean man-made rules which bind up the person, laying upon them unnecessary burdens which derail them from the path towards truth. Or, as Jesus put it referring to the false ministers of the day:
"...they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."(Matthew 23:4)
He also said:
"But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in." (Matthew 23:13)
I remember back in the 70's when they came out with the "un-religion" . They knew that we were on to organized religion so they approached us from a new angle. They taught us of the failure of the religious approach to God while positively asserting that their group was not a religion. Thought you were safe but, dang it, it was just religion in disguise again. A good lesson learned. It's not what they say but what they do that counts.
And then, once you get out from under the yolk of "organized" religion, you have your own religion (self-imposed rules to righteousness) to be delivered from. A whitewash we all hide under in the flesh (be it before men or God) which serves as a cover for sin rather than the deliverance from it. Only the power of God in Christ can deliver us from this tricky one.
Anyhow, all I can say is, it just feels better being a person again, relieved of the pressure of trying to be or pretending to be some "perfect" one.
I've been through a lot and my learning process has been hard. Maybe that's how it is for everybody but, for some reason, most of the people I know (excluding my husband) don't seem to be going through the same process, so I almost always feel like an alien around them. But, there is an upside to that. It helps with the "trying to fit in" malady we're all plagued with. I now understand that I will never fit in but that's good. It has been quite freeing. I am now cut loose to be who I really am. Well, at least, that's the goal.
Thank you so much for that encouraging greeting. It was "Heart to heart" the first video I watched of yours. I have it on my profile. God bless ya, sis.
Thank you very much! I'm not effected. Thus I donated blood and money for the rescue. The rescue and rebuild of the earthquake-strike area will take a long time, but the toughest time has passed. Take care!
That's an awesome story! It reminds me of myself because I'm too scared to sing in front of anyone haha. You have such a beautiful voice. That's all my Aunt Elvira says when she talks about you, is how beautiful your voice is. :) Give John our love!!!
