These are exciting times we are living in; times of positive changes and the opportunity to shed indifference and complacent attitudes. I perceive this as a time to embrace new ways to solve old problems.
One of the most profound lessons I have learned is the fact that each of us comes here with a master plan as to what our missions are. Armed with this insight, I am committed to moving toward my life goals.
I have worked as a Community Resource Facilitator for over 30 years. In 1996, I organized a state-wide Women of Color Conference held in Duluth, MN. Over 200 women from every ethnic background and belief system attended the conference.
In 1985, I had the opportunity to travel to Egypt with world renowned Egyptologist: Dr. Yosef A. A. Ben-Jochannan, affectionately known as "Dr. Ben.” He believed that Egypt is the place to go to learn the fundamentals of living.
I created and produced a stage production Metamorphosis of a Black Woman that drew standing room only crowds at the Duluth Playhouse.
I am currently working on completing my autobiography Arbra’s Butterfly Spirit and performing my Poetry Therapy.
I am the assistant director at Jazztorian Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving classical jazz, and volunteer as grant writer for Caregivers Helping Hand, a community-based service organization.
I have adopted and financially support a member of an underserved family in Liberia. Her name is Grace Martin. She recently married and has two children. In fact, we are constantly in contact. She recently called to wish me a happy holiday.
I have two sisters, two brothers, and a wonderfully supportive man who shares in my life’s journey.
My goal is to continue my mission of sharing my Poetry Therapy presentations in order to help others overcome their addictions, and to advocate the love of self.
