Since a young age Toronto’s most thorough artist has been plotting his rise. Aspektz, more affectionately known as Mr. Thoro or Ontario Banderas, began writing and recording in his formative years, mixing the eclectic palette of sounds he was bombarded with in a packed house. At 6 years old, he was knocking on neighborhood doors to perform for candy donations. By the time he was 13, the stage shifted and he was performing at talent shows across the GTA. It became clear to everyone early on that, although the leader of the True Thorobredz was gifted in the art of business, it was the business behind his art that would eventually clear his path to success.
Born on December 9th, 1985, Mr. Thoro was a unique child. Raised in an atmosphere packed with excitement, there was no shortage of sonic stimulation. His father, a blues and rock enthusiast, would spend hours explaining the finer points of classic vinyl albums while his elder sisters began taking him out to the expanding underground rave scene. It was only natural, at this point, that he would begin exploring other forms of music on his own, eventually discovering the rising art hiphop.
After releasing his first single from Academic Probation through iTunes, entitled In The TDot, it quickly became clear that the years of hard work were about to begin paying off. Fuelled by a conceptual video that shows him bringing the city to life, Aspektz plans to bring the visual into reality by releasing smash hit after smash hit. Reaching out nationally with the follow-up single, Fresh, the goal is to introduce the rest of Canada to the most thorough offering that Canada has seen in years.
Academic Probation is set to be released in the first quarter of 2010, boasting an easy to digest sound with help from global producers. Understanding that, in this fast paced day and age, an artist is only as strong as his last hit, Aspektz doesn’t plan on easing up. With scheduled mixtape releases every quarter until the album comes out, there is no question that his rise has begun.
