About me:
Beka & the Gin Hall Hustlers are an exciting new band based in Nashville, TN. The group’s songwriter/singer, Beka, is from Mukwonago, WI. She just finished recording her CD, “Cabin Fever,” at Curb Studios in Nashville, TN. Members of Kenny Chesney and Garth Brook’s bands played on it, with Beka writing, producing, and arranging all the songs. She then formed her backing band, the extremely talented Gin Hall Hustlers. This rollicking group of pros puts on a high-energy show, with a love for traditional country-thanks to their pedal-steel player & violinist. The band was excited to make it into the fifth round of the Lollapalooza "Last Band Standing" Contest-this year out of several thousand entrants.
The CD is already meeting with critical success. In March of 2009, the song “Trouble in Pants,“ (a saucy country dance number) made the first round of the finals of Billboard magazine’s worldwide song contest. Also that month, Beka was interviewed for the Austin-based Texas Two Groove music blog. American Songwriter magazine positively reviewed “Hollywood with Cowboy Hats” in November of 2008.
In October of 2008, the band signed a non-exclusive licensing deal with Seattle music agency Audiosocket for representation in film, commercials, multimedia, and TV. Also that month, the song “Runner,” already playing on WOS radio 365live.com, was picked up for a “Spotlight” feature on the Bree Noble show on that network, and the band recorded a WOS radio commercial. In May of that year, Beka was chosen to compete in the Miller Lite Nashville Music Masters Showcase, and the band also won the Sonicbids competition to have a song remixed. “Trouble in Pants” again attracted notice, and was remixed by Miami producer Shawn Thomas.
The “Cabin Fever” CD is already receiving airplay on wmvysradio.com (the world’s largest internet radio station), Radio Lyon, France, Pongid Radio (in the Top 20), and 2nd Life Video Avatars. New fans are seeking out the band on Myspace, Digital Rodeo, Ourstage, and Facebook.
The band was the opening act for the fan clubs of Joe Nichols, Emerson Drive, and Gary Allen, during Fan Fair last year at the Nashville Palace. They have played Tootsies and the Paradise Trailer Park Resort (both on the famous Broadway strip), the Bluebird, the Commodore, and the Nashville Songwriter’s Festival in Tennessee.
Prior to that, Beka lived in Los Angeles, where she was a finalist on Ryan Seacrest’s Star 98.7 “Be a Star” contest, sang on a Vantage Records compilation (billed as “The California Cowgirl” singing “Lucky One Time,“ received the 1 rating for her demo in Music Connection Magazine, and played solo acoustic in clubs such as Genghis Cohen, The Gig, Coconut Teaszer, NoHo’s Blue Room, 14 Below, The Long Beach AmFar Festival, and the North Hollywood Arts & Music Festival.
