Possessing a delightfully filthy mind, a voice often compared to Ronnie Spector and wordplay skills rivalling those of Ron Mael and Stephin Merritt, Candypants frontwoman Lisa Jenio is quite the package. On the band's debut album, Jenio — whose résumé includes playing flute for the Negro Problem as well as editing and writing for the skin mag Barely Legal — leads Candypants through 15 hook-laden songs recalling Plastic Letters-era Blondie, all featuring her cleverly skewed takes on such topics as clueless males (“Monkey Boy”), spoiled children (“I Want a Pony”), older men on the prowl for younger women (“Cherry Picker”), women on the prowl for any man (“Dishy”) and sex (just about every song). So... last night at my lil' birthday shindig, Jimbo and Lee played all my favorite songs. When Candypants hit the decks, this guy ran up to Jimbo freaking out cuz he LOVES Candypants. Jimbo sent him to our little corner of the club, directing him to the Candypants fan club. We had a blast initiating him into the fan club! ;) You were missed but you were also there! Me0w!
A friend and I went together to have it done and hers didn't hurt a bit. Me.., I was in excruciating pain. But it was all worth it. It's amazing, sitting up on the little bed and being able to see the clock on the wall from across the room without contacts or glasses. Strange, but amazing. And thank you very much for the well wishes. I needed that. :)
