Born to Vietnamese parents in the seaside resort of Eastbourne on the south coast of England, Catherine first began performing live in public at 14 and from the age of 16, earned her apprenticeship as a solo artist by playing famous intimate acoustic London venues such as The 12 Bar Club and The Kashmir Klub. Soon after, Catherine tour supported Van Morrison, Al Stewart, Loudon Wainwright III and Ed Harcourt. However, it was an invitation by Robert Plant to be sole support on his UK tour that demonstrated Catherine's ability to perform to audiences at the very highest level. An appearance at the International Music Showcase South By South West [SXSW ] in Austin, Texas, USA, brought Catherine together with danish producer Joshua [MEW, KENT ]. Within a year, Catherine had relocated to Copenhagen, had formed a band, recorded new material and toured throughout Scandinavia.
With a newly formed band, a performance at 'IN THE CITY' in 2005 in Manchester, England, introduced Catherine to UK audiences once again and to the attention of the industry. 2006 continued where 2005 had left off, only this time with a summer blitzing of London venues for a series of dates with her band. 2007 saw Catherine heading a trio and returning to the UK to perform dates at several acoustic venues throughout London.
In 2008 a meeting with three times Grammy award winning UK record producer Ken Nelson [Coldplay, Kings Of Convenience, Gomez, Paolo Nutini ] resulted in the pair working together and recording several tracks at Parr Street Studio's, Liverpool.
2009 promises to be an exciting year for Catherine, bringing more live dates, a summer of festivals and undertaking the recording of her debut album with Ken Nelson at the controls.
