About me:
Hello everyone! This webpage's intent is to educate. First and foremost, I'd like to educate the reader on chess as a learning tool, and through networking, hopefully bring chess to the schools. With a more global perspective in mind, might chess be capable of bringing some peace to the world? If the only wars are those which take place on a chessboard, I'd like to think this world to be a better place. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. I will occasionally post chess problems via the myspace bulletins for your enjoyment. Chess is both art and sport! Educators around the world acknowledge that chess is a powerful tool for developing higher order thinking skills, creativity, numerical and verbal aptitudes, and memory. Nearly 30 nations formally integrate chess into their school curricula because of its impact on critical-thinking skills. Children as young as 2 years of age are being introduced to the game with actual play starting a mere 4 years young! Dr. Calvin F. Deyermond, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the North Tonawanda City School District, wrote: "Chess develops intellectual, esthetic, sporting, decision making, concentration, and perseverance skills. We have seen the effects of this wonderful game in our classroom and as an extracurricular activity. Not only is it mentally challenging but it attracts not only gifted pupils but also students at all levels of learning. Many students who have been experiencing problems, particularly in mathematics and reading, sometimes demonstrate remarkable progress after learning chess." myspace graphicsmyspaceLyrics

Who I'd like to meet:
As a chessplayer myself, more specifically a National Master of the game, I'd love to talk/meet with not only those willing to lend a hand in ultimately bringing chess to the schools, but also fellow chessplayers who simply enjoy playing the game. Feel free to message the 'Chess Network'. Please add me to your friends list so as to acknowledge that chess, at the very least, has the potential to be an infectious positive.

Every national flag in the world contains at least one of the following colors: black, blue, green, red, yellow, white. The Chess Network's Symbol of the knight, and its animated eye flashing all six colors, represents chess as being a universal game!

MAKE ROOM FOR THE 'CHESS NETWORK' ON YOUR TOP LIST AND PLAY YOUR PART IN HELPING TO PROMOTE
'A BETTER WORLD'.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
~Margaret Mead~

Sep 22 2008 8:04 AM

hey jeremy, big fan. i just want to ask, why does everybody make such a big deal about losing a bishop to a knight, if they are equal? i understand that the bishop pair is better in the end game, but the knight has advantages as well. if it is worse to lose a bishop than a knight, doesnt that mean that a bishop is better? please help me out.
thanks :)
