March 09
Mastering a full-length for the very talented Jon Garrett: 10 seriously haunting pop songs. Be sure to check him out as he begins to play out a bit more. Also a quick bus mastering on the incredibly original rock concept album, "BERD," by local band, Addition.
The all-ages Crossfox CD Release show with Kid Pompadour, Antique Scream, and 10 Killing Hands. Also my first tour of any kind-5 shows in 5 days: Bellingham, Bellevue, Portland, Olympia, and Seattle. A lot of fun but it's too bad 2 out of 4 of us got sick with colds. I'm already busy booking the June/July tour.
February 09
Crossfox 21+ CD Release show with The Love Lights and Browne's Condition. Also, a brief profile piece on Crossfox appeared in this month's issue of "What's Up!" magazine. Check that out here.
Probably a couple other things happened too but I seriously can't remember.
January 09
I just sent out the master copy of the Crossfox record (self-titled) to be replicated and packaged in slick 4-panel digipacks. We began recording this project 10 months ago. It's so weird to consider it actually finished. Additionally, a couple cool mastering projects should be on the way!
December 08
"Short Shorts" the new full-length by the Growers came out Dec. 6th at the Wild Buffalo. A unique workflow as both the band and I engineered the recording. I then mixed and mastered the 11 song project. Check out a sample in the Project Opus player to your left! This month I also had the pleasure of mastering two very different projects: a pop masterpiece by solo artists Austin Jenckes and a rock-and-roll gem of a full-length by local band, The Sugar High Mustangs. Additionally, mastering for the Crossfox record is almost complete--it's so close! I also tracked, mixed, and mastered a great four-song demo by new local pop band, Juicebox. All live off the floor with overdubbed vocals. -A very short and sweet session.
November 08
The meticulous tracking for Crossfox album is complete. I'm now deep in the mixing stage. A show at the Rogue. And a self-imposed break for Thanksgiving.
October 08
One of my favorite months (as I adore the holiday of Halloween). Mixing for the new album by local band, The Growers, is in full swing. This will be a fantastic release--I'm a fan. Also, tracking for Crossfox is nearly complete as the one and only Aaron Cramer is contributing with his burly Thunderbird Bass and skills.
September 08
This month was split between a few different projects. Continued tracking for the upcoming opus of an album by Crossfox. As well as mastering for a solo full-length by Eran Shweitzer of Portland, Oregon. To top it off studio construction and renovations for the Fairhaven Recording Studio. Good thing my classes begin soon.
August 08
"Everything Louder Than Everything Else," the new EP by The Contra is finished and heading out for duplication. This action-packed 6 song release will be accompanying the band on their upcoming west coast tour. Listen to the tracks, "Nothing Inside" and "Interconnected" on their profile.
In other news, tracking guitars for the long anticipated Crossfox album has resumed! More updates to follow.
July 08
Tracking for the new Sweaty Sweaters album, CARE, began July 7th in the Fairhaven auditorium. The final mastered tracks were finished on Monday, July 28th. The recording was done with somewhat of a minimalist approach, intended to reflect the band's live show. Do yourself a big favor and take a listen.
A six song EP for local punk band, The Contra, is nearly tracked. Loud, rockin', and bad-ace are words that come to mind whilst previewing the raw tracks.
June 08
This month I will be engineering/co-producing the new full length for The Growers. We've started the pre-production and I can already tell this record will be amazing. The plan is to do about 11 tracks; recording basics live and then many meticulous overdubs. -so exited!
In other news, I am mastering Jet Lag Palm's new album, which is full of some really great songs. Also, tracking dates for other local bands, Sweaty Sweaters and The Contra are scheduled for July.
May 08
The long awaited 7" vinyl EP, "Deaf Erotica," by the Russians is finally pressed and ready for release. I swear the vinyl makes them sound even more intense. Check out the cover art in my photos section. In other news, a hefty summer roster of recording projects is developing. Summer seems to be the season of full lengths.
April 08
Work on the Crossfox album predictably slowed to a halt as school/work commitments took precedence. The tracking will continue as things calm down again. In the mean time I've taken a handful of mastering gigs.
March 08
Crossfox is currently recording an 8 song release...can that be considered an album? Amazing drum sounds, right out of the mics! It really does help to track in a big room. We're currently tracking guitars. This should keep me busy for a while.

February 08
Crossfox will appear in the new Murder Mountain Records music film, "the Microscope Experiment," premiering Feb. 20 at wwu. 13 Bellingham area bands playing one song each in a garage. A sincere thanks to M.M. for including us in this unique project!
January 08
Local jam-pop band, The Growers, have asked me to master 15 songs for their upcoming full length release, "To the Threads." The songs are really, really cool. I'm doubly thrilled as I'll be employing some new mastering plug-ins which I recently purchased.
Mastering for the new Russians EP is underway. A bit trickier then usual as it's to be released on vinyl. After a little research, it is sounding very nice.
December 07 My little rock band, Crossfox, recently recorded a holiday themed song called, "Della and Jim," with local engineer Tim Brown as part of a compilation. The lyrics are based on an old short story titled, "the Gift of the Magi," by O. Henry. It's posted above.
"What's Up!" magazine has published a profile on me. Incredibly nice of them. The photo is by my most excellent friend, Elizabeth Ward.
November 07 I posted a track called, "Glass Ships," from the Martyrs of the Apollo Guild EP. (scroll down on the project opus player to your left) Enjoy!
I noticed an error in the November edition of "What's Up" magazine. To give good credit where it's due, please note that Ryan Charger at Mars Studio produced the Contra's latest release, "The House of the Dying Sun." I mastered this project.
I finished mixing and mastering the 5 song, 27:30 minute EP for Martyrs of the Apollo Guild! This was a challenging project to finish up as I've been settling into my new role at the Fairhaven College Recording Studio. I can't wait to get a copy with the artwork!
September 07 5 consecutive days of recording...Tracking EP's for the Russians and Seattle-Eastside band, Martyrs of the Apollo Guild, is finished. Mixing to follow.
August 07
The summer of recording continues. 10 Killing Hands mixing and mastering begins.
By the way I'm working on a brand new apple based PT rig now and couldn't be more thrilled. It's such a cliche.. but I'm not at all sorry to see Windows take a hike.
It is my honor to sub for Ben of local band the Love Lights! Two shows, playing second guitar!
I'll be doing some pre-production for upcoming projects with the Russians and a Seattle area band called, Martyrs of the Apollo Guild.
July 07
Finished the last of the Karate Kitchen and 10 Killing Hands tracking sessions. Two amazing local acts. I can't wait to start mixing.
These bands will be the last to have tracked in the Forest St. house (aka Skeleton Coast). It was a nice little place but it's time to move on.
