About me: My name is Michael I live in Sunny Jax Beach FL and have been breeding cichlid fishes for 5 years and have been in the hobby for 6 years now. So far all I can say is every year a new tank seems to appear in my house so my interest in it just gets bigger and bigger. I own 9 cichlid tanks and plan to have many more I guess you could call me a "cichlidiot".
I formed Cichlid Paradise in July of 2007 with a good friend so that we could form a community where we could all have a place to share our passion, our research, and to promote Cichlid Conservation. We want to inform people around the world about what is happening to these cichlid fishes, the people who depend on them, and their natural habitats and how they are being destroyed and the huge impact it will have on mankind and the planet earth. You could almost say this is our passion in life to conserve these precious species and their habitats as several hundreds of them are ever more becoming extinct and endangered in the wild. The conditions of Lake Victoria in Africa for example over 30 million people depend on cichlids as a food source and way of life. Though we are not all Scientists or Ichthyologists we do research and experiment behavior in cichlid fishes. Overall we are more focused on the evolution and rapid development of so many species from a single species, their ability to adapt to several different water conditions, and also their ability to process almost every food due to a secondary jaw located in the throat of the cichlids mouth. 2010 we will venture to several parts of Africa, Asia and South & Central America to explore, document, and photograph cichlids in the wild. The research we will be doing will provide us with our very own source of information and up to date habitat conditions CP will be working with several organizations to help solve these problems. I personally invite you to help us build this community and want to thank you for dropping in.
We developed Cichlid Paradise with the intent to attract Cichlid hobbyists for a place to discuss, and show off our small worlds that some call Aquariums. Our goal is to gain as much knowledge about these fish and share it with others so that raising them becomes slightly easier. Trial and error to us just seems like a waste of time and money. With a community however the process of raising, breeding, and illnesses could quickly become an easy task. So we figured if everyone throws together their experiences we could learn from others mistakes and take precautions to stop them before they happen again and again. Why make a hundred mistakes when they have already been made.
We are a non-commercial non-profit website and we are here to serve the Cichlid Community and helping you the hobbyist become great at the hobby!
Come learn with us as we discus our trials and errors, our successes and show them off to the Community. Thank you for taking the time to visit our community and please come again for any information you wish to share or obtain about Cichlids.

Personally, I hate parking lots --- but we have so many of them! Sitting there, doing nothing but heating up the atmosphere, so solar parking lots! Community-sustained, secure, renewable electricity! Bonus = community jobs! All over America! So I’m back at university learning GIS to analyze each town’s paved parking areas (Greensboro NC (pop 247,000) has 10.27 square miles of it that will power over 500,000 homes (every year) if covered with photovoltaics!) and I’m starting put_a_lid_on_it …………..………. Stay tuned!

Also I just moved and after transfering the fish in the cold they almost died but after getting their tank temps back to normal they are ok. My red devil is sick it seems the other red devil keeps trying to get her to swim. I bought some stress coat for them but what makes me feel as if she maybe dying is my algae eater is trying to suck on her and that is what happened to two other fish before they died. I hope this make sense the way I'm writing this and if it does, if you or anyone can help me save Mrs Deebo(fish) please let me know and again I hope your birthday is wonderful
