Originating in Stamford, CT West Side neighborhood as a click and now spreading out all over, Darkcyde Music Group LLC. is a label ran by "Conn Ave's King" Matthew "Stead One" Steadman. Stead One was an artist on Shelbywu Records that lyrical abilities stood out like a sore thumb. After leaving Shelbywu Records in early 2005, Stead One explored other states for a bigger buzz. From doing a show in Dartmuth and New Bethford, Mass. to winning a talent show in Tuscaloosa, AL. Towards the end of 2005 Stead picked up a roster that is about as lyrically inclined as their general. In 2006 Darkcyde is officially off the ground with a team after the green. We have joint venture deals with other record labels so everyone we do business with is making money. We are doing big things. It is located north of the Waterside neighborhood, west of Downtown and east of Greenwich, Connecticut. The different sections of the West Side including Vidal Court, Fairfield Court, Spruce Street, Friendship Building and the infamous Southwood Square (formally known as Southfield Village). One version of the boundaries of the West Side has it located between Stillwater Avenue, Broad Street, West Main Street and West Avenue up to Exit 6 Interstate 95.[1] The West Side has had a problem with violent crime for years. "Despite efforts to curb it, the area is still a breeding ground for drug dealers, and gangs, such as the Bloods, the Crips, the Merrell Avenue Posse and the Haitian Posse," according to an April 2007 article in The Advocate of Stamford.
