Maybe we are. Maybe we aren't. Totally an "INVERTED PARADOX". DIA="THE TRUTH!! An' we are da krew some hedz do not want you to know about. Because, we will tie 'em to a wall of 15" woofers; columns of mids and screaming tweeters and pump the Global Rock sound into their veins. Well... Billboard magazine acknowledged DIA Records' "global rock" sound calling it "a hiphop-rock-reggae crossbreed." Who are we to argue. Of course the music bible is correct. Our efforts are centered on creating universal muzik for the ages. Whether it's hiphop, reggae, punk, alternative or all of the above in any fusion combination, we want people to pop in (or download) D.I.A. recordings generations from now and say -- "this is timeless stuff". The "Global Rock" genre is any sound with multiple elements (ska/punk, reggae/alt. rock/dub, Rock/Psychedelic/Blues, etc.) The appeal is universal and not niched into one corner.
True grit is an important part of the Global Rock movement. We luv when it's a lil' ruff around the edges. Being slick and sugar coated is not D.I.A.'s style. We love keeping it rustic and grounded.
From a social standpoint, "Global Rock" transcends race, class, gender and age. It's about RHYTHM, CULTURE, RESPECT and total INCLUSION. Ight!! It doesn't matter if black and blue or walk with a disable gate like Yoda from Lucas Films. TOTAL INCLUSION (for most parts).

BOBBY CULTURE (government: Fitzloyd Billings) must not be confused by any mix-cd disc jockey or artist using the same handle. The late, original BOBBY CULTURE was a one-of-a-kind Jack Ruby HiFi (Ocho Rios, St. Ann - Jamaica sound system), resident deejay. As one of the most creative lyricists and of the 80's, 'longside Louie Ranking and Brimstone & Fire, it was worries in the dancehall. D.I.A Records (Myspace) re-released Bobby Culture's rebel dub-deejay track entitled 'Trip To Jamaica' (November 21, 2008), paying homage to the "Ram-dance Daddy." "Trip To Jamaica' was voiced and mixed at Power Play Studios in Long Island City, NYC. When the riddim (rhythm) was recorded at Bullwackies in the Bronx (1986), we consciously made an extra effort to keep everything simple and pure 'drum-and-bass style. Recreating classic reggae riddims is not a big part of what Jamekee/DIA does. We like to create new riddims. But when we do rerecord the classics, efforts are made to give a different interpretation. That is what was done with the "Skylarking" riddim for 'Trip To Jamaica'. The bassline was taken and put "in-the-pocket" on top of the drum pattern. Bigups to Rudolph (Plutopia) Richards who played on all tracks.
'Trip To Jamaica' and a track called 'Doc Holiday' with related dubs were released on Dollar Bill/JameKee label as a vinyl ep in 1986. D.I.A Records is proud to revive the vintage 'Trip To Jamaica' track by Bobby Culture. Infinitely still light-years ahead!

ROGUISH ARMAMENT (Ill, Chipperoonie, and Gabe aka DJ G-Pace) were ahead of the alternative hiphop game when they recorded the self-titled Roguish Armament CD DIY style in the mid 90's. The Urban Rocsta then moved to Manhattan where he has been performing around the Rock on the Hudson River for a long minute. Mark Shine is a well seasoned "entertainer." Nuff respect to Toasters (sometimes) front man Jack Ruby, Jr. Jack Ruby Jr. has a rich linage in the muzik biz. Based in Ocho Rios, JACK RUBY. (RIP) was a distinct standout on the Jamaican muzik scene. He discoverd and produced Burning Spear and Foundation to name a couple. So, his seed Jack Ruby, Jr. is authentically carrying the torch of the blackheart man. Jr. was also a member of the kool Acid Jazz Hiphop krew The Jazzhole. BTW, Jack Ruby, Jr. is also Sean Kingston's uncle.

Well... Billboard magazine acknowledged DIA Records' "global rock" sound calling it "a hiphop-rock-reggae crossbreed." Who are we to argue. Of course the music bible is correct. Our efforts are centered on creating universal muzik for the ages. Whether it's hiphop, reggae, punk, alternative or all of the above in any fusion combination, we want people to pop in (or download) D.I.A. recordings generations from now and say -- "this is timeless stuff". The "Global Rock" genre is any sound with multiple elements (ska/punk, reggae/alt. rock/dub, Rock/Psychedelic/Blues, etc.) The appeal is universal and not niched into one corner.
From a social standpoint, "Global Rock" transcends race, class, gender and age. It's about RHYTHM, CULTURE, RESPECT and total INCLUSION. Ight!! It doesn't matter if black and blue or walk with a disable gate like Yoda from Lucas Films. TOTAL INCLUSION (for most parts).
