Amen (30) of sub-level has been working in the underground dance scene for over fifteen years as a DJ playing house, breakbeat and jungle drum n' bass music.
In 1998 Amen, began organising and promoting his own dance events.
In 1999, Amen began co-promoting jungle drum ‘n’ bass and old skool hardcore techno. launching careers of a number of DJs and MCs in the west-country.
In the early 2000s Amen aka Neon co-managed a Record shop in Exeter, an underground record store and rave ticket outlet supplying a wide variety of UK and international dance music. In addition to this, Neon branched away to organise and run his own events under the banner of sub-level, further promoting local dance music artists at seven of the South-West’s finest venues, including the Cavern Club in Exeter and the Country Club in Yeovil.
Later, one of Devon’s most attended weekly rave club nights Hard Edge merged with sub-level allowing Amen to join forces with one of Devon’s finest drum ‘n’ bass DJs, Cookie.
sub-level weekly events saw the biggest names in the jungle drum ‘n’ bass industry perform at some of Devon’s best loved night-spots earning Sub-Level the reputation of “the best atmosphere in a small club” in the premiere jungle drum ‘n’ bass monthly publication, Knowledge Magazine.
Over the years which followed, Amen set up his own electronic music studio where he has been busy producing hard and experimental dance music under the monikers of Arakned, Alien Creation, Neon, Nuke, amongst others.
House Things, Neon’s radio show on OX4 Radio 87.9 FM began in the summer of 2007, allowing him to delve deeper into his record crates to allow older ravers the chance to reminisce, and also give younger audiences of Oxford a history lesson on the early house music scene...
