DJ Shy was the first female mixer at the No. 1 top 40 radio station in America, 102.7 KIIS-FM. in Los Angeles. This Clear Channel station with over 2.6 million listeners each week features Ryan Seacrest as morning host. Shy has spun at all the top clubs in the world, from L.A. to Asia and back. She kicked off the 2006 Bud Light-MAXIM Exposure Tour. In 2007 SHY travelled nationwide for the NOCTURNAL TOUR spinning at 80 events with Playmates and reality stars of Beauty and the Geek. In 2008, SHY went on tour travelling aboard PRINCESS CRUISES spreading her sounds throughout the Caribbean.
She has appeared on Damon Wayans "The Underground" on Showtime and Disney Channel's "Totally Suite New Years Eve" and recently landed a role for "Ring of Blood: Tribute to John Woo" film. She got her start at the world-famous Laugh Factory comedy club in Hollywood, where she spun at sold-out shows for comics like Norm MacDonald, Damon and Marlon Wayons, George Lopez, Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Dane Cook, David Chapelle, Roger Dangerfield and others. She spins Top 40, pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B and reggae music.
Shy has broken barriers in the male-dominated industry of deejaying to become one of the most skilled and respected female mixers in the world. As a Korean American, she has redefined the black and Latino landscape of hip-hop music.
Today, Shys biggest role model is her mother, who opened her own business despite little money and limited English skills in a tough town. Shy lives in Glendale, CA. and has a Bachelors degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Southern California. Shys future endeavors include spinning at sports events, in commercials and film, and writing an autobiography.
NYLON PINK is an edgy pop-rock band formed in Hollywood, California in 2007. United by a mutual love for Guns N Roses, fashion, and all things pink, the pop-rock creators, who are Kaila and Kitt.E.Kat embody the Hollywood lifestyle, blended with a dose of anime and rock and roll.
With Kaila singing lead vocals and Kitt.E.Kat on bass guitar, TJ McDonnell on drums, Theresa on guitar and DJ Shy on the turntables, Nylon Pink just launched their new single “Hello Drama” which is a fitting lead single as it is also the brand name for their newly launched jewelry line. The song “Hello Drama” captures the essence of the girl’s lifestyle and personalities. It is a pop-rock song with a hard driving guitar riff and angst filled chorus mixed with a dash of girlish hope.
