Das Automatik started out in the summer of 2003 as a three piece electronic outfit, at the time, heavily influenced by joy division and various electro groups, they wrote an albums worth of material. At the turn of the year they rewrote all material and replaced their instrumentation with a series of rack mount synths, drum machines, samplers, etc. Now an all electronic two piece, they have elements of such groups as the pet shop boys and air...but with a much more raw edge. Four on the floor meets electro meets garage rock. Taking influences from suicide to frankie knuckles, there really isnt an element they dont consider at this point. They've opened for such acts as Tommie Sunshine and The Number, but always reworking to the n-th degree. Currently recording as of 7/04, it will be worth checking out.
Machines replace humans while the kick drum goes on....the antithesis of Houstons music scene. Substance meets style meets rhythm meets fashion meets science meets debauchery...........
