David Kitchen is a singer, song writer and guitarist living in the Washington D.C. area.

David has been a professional musician for over three decades, writing and performing his own music from the Rockies to the Atlantic Ocean with stops, both literal and figurative in the Mississippi Delta and the Appalachian Mountains.

Known as a road warrior in the local D.C. area, Kitchen has honed his skills performing before live audiences on an almost nightly basis, working as a sideman on various projects as well as fronting his own bands. David’s heavy schedule finds him equally at home playing such up scale venues as the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center and the Barns at Wolftrap, or the beer and sawdust circuit. In 2003 with the Thrillbillies, Kitchen took the helm for the regular Thursday night show at the legendary Sunset Grille in Annandale Virginia, a gig formally overseen by guitar wizard Bill Kirchen.

Kitchen released his first album, the roots rock/country flavored Low Falutin’ for Rockmonger, in 1998. The record was well received; the Washington Post's Mike Joyce praised David’s “mixture of charm, attitude and tunefulness” and found in his song-craft reminders of Buddy Holly and Paul McCartney.

Over the last decade, Kitchen has been a prolific musical force in the Wahington area, and David’s peers have recognized his achievements with a series of nominations and awards including WAMA(Washington Area Music Association) nominations for Best New Artist, Roots Rock Instrumentalist, Roots Rock Vocalist and Musician of The Year. In 2006, Kitchen won WAMA awards for Songwriter of the Year, Best Song of 2006 (If Love is Blind) and Best Debut Album (Live at The Sunset Grille w/ The Thrillbillies). In 2006, David was a finalist in the Mountain Stage/NewSong Contest with “Find Our Way”.

Variously Kitchen’s music can be heard on TV spots for the U.S. Labor Dept. and the Association of Speech and Hearing, and David’s 1998 song, “Mystery to Me” appears in the 2001 Paramount motion picture “Wild Iris” starring Gena Rowlands, and on the local D. C. compilation “Greetings From The District of Country”. David also found time to write and performed the theme song for Washington D.C.’s 48 Hour Film Festival in 2001.

Kitchen’s songs have been covered by a number of artists, including blues rocker Tom Principato, who covered “If Love Is Blind” in 2005, and the Pacific Northwest’s Fabulous Wailers, who chose to feature his song “Cadillac To Mexico” as the title track for their 2003 release.

In 2002, Kitchen added the title of producer with his work on American Song’s album “True To Life” on Red Robin.

In the Fall of 2008 Kitchen released Underground, a five song EP he describes as “post modern melodic guitar pop”.
