Djoser "Djo" Fortunado hails from the New York Metropolitan Area, but has cut his teeth working for years within the diverse climate of America's first capital, Philadelphia.
He soon found work as a guitarist for reggae groups like I Yahn I Arkestra, Moses Livingston & the Raggamuffins, afrobeat group Jojolo, and has been a house band member for I Be's Open Mic (host of the Gathering Hip Hop & Breakdancing showcase) , and shared the stage with headliners such as reggae legend Gregory Issaccs, Dub Pioneer Lee "Scratch" Perry, Digital Dub guru Mad Professor, and even the Wailers at venues throughout the Philly region as well as Festivals & venues up & down the East Coast, & even a few solo gigs in Berkeley, CA and Seattle, WA, where he lived for a short time over the years.
His current projects include OS HUMANOS (The Humans!), a Bossa Nova Lounge & Samba Quartet he formed which has maintained a monthly Live Brazilian Dance party: "Brasileiro!" at the Bubble House Restaurant & Bar in West Philadelphia, PA since August 2006. (www.myspace.com/OsHumanos)
Djo also plays guitar in & helps arrange music with long-standing collaborator Gabrielle Burke Casella, a.k.a. Plumdragoness. As "Plumdragoness & the Elements", they have been performing in the "Poetree in Motion" series, in a long-term residency at the Rotunda, a venue connecting University of Penn to the greater West Philadelphia community through performance art, live music, theatre & poetry. After recording an album in 2008-'09, Plumdragoness & the Elements have enjoyed a steady festival lineup including Gaian Mind 09, PEX FEST 09, Desiderata Festival, and will be performing at Burning Man, 2009.

Djo himself maintains a steady output of a solo material, some of which can be found on this site, and some of which finds its way into his work as a playwright & performance artist. His 2008 play, "GODS vs MEN: A Reggae Rock & Hip HOPera" nearly sold out its 3 night run at the Rotunda, and he is currently writing its follow up.
DJO is an independent, unsigned artist, and maintains a vast network of performing artists & musicians, so please contact him through this site for bookings, events, or even if you are interested in contacting him for Guitar Lessons or having him play percussion along w/ a DJ Set.
