About me: “Dog Brothers”
All began when 20 years ago several fighters met each other in a park in Los Angeles to test there fighting skills in a realistic way. At that time in America tournaments were held in a strict way with a lot of safety equipment and many rules. So, the goal was to minimize the safety equipment and to fight with serious sticks. It’s what we call today “Real Contact Stickfighting”.
Finally in 1988 the “Dog Brothers” were founded by Eric “Top Dog” Knaus (the fighting force), Marc “Crafty Dog” Denny (the guiding force) and Arlan “Salty Dog” Sanford (the silent force).
Since that time the group grew continuously. After the release of the first video series this band of “sweaty, smelly, psychopaths with sticks” became famous and notorious worldwide.

“Dog Brothers Martial Arts”
Through Guro Crafty Dog’s fighting experience and his versatile knowledge in martial arts, he developed an effective “system of many styles” called Dog Brothers Martial Arts (DBMA). What means, it’s not an random blend of any techniques, but rather a SYSTEM of many styles. A system because there exists a comprehensive curriculum.
DBMA is in its core a Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) based system with Krabi Krabong, BJJ and others all playing important roles as well.
In the DBMA curriculum we teach: Single stick, double stick, palm stick, staff and empty hand (for competition and street). Also DBMA includes a complex health system (massage, stretching, yoga and breathing techniques).
Further on philosophy is a very important part of this system also. As there is a theory to understand and deal with aggression in human nature (in which point we agree with the scientist K. Lorenz).
We want to underline that DBMA is not only a system for fighters but also for practitioners. In any case it’s a ideal system for people interesting in self-defence, fitness, health and the beauty of martial arts generally. All in all it’s a system for each man and each woman, not only for young tough males who want to fight. Further more our mission is to help you walk as a Warrior for all your days.

Dog Brothers Martial Arts has been growing in the UK for the past couple of years and we now have Groups in Glasgow, London, Bristol and St Helens. With fighters from both Glasgow and Bristol having fought in both the European and LA Gatherings.
