Dolores O'Riordan is probably best known as the incredible and unique voice that led Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries to international success in the early nineties. Throughout the duration of the band's career, The Cranberries sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, earned four top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, had eight top 20 singles on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, won countless awards, completed many successful worldwide tours, and developed a massive and devoted fan base.
Dolores's work with The Cranberries, however, is only part of the legacy in music she continues to create. Her past accomplishments include performances at The Vatican, duets with Luciano Pavarotti, and collaborations with Angelo Badalamenti, Zucchero, and Giuliano Sangiorgi just to name a few. In 2007, Dolores released her first solo album entitled "Are You Listening?" which chronicled with deep sincerity the chapters in her life following her departure from The Cranberries. The album displays Dolores's range and depth as an artist, as it tackles musical genres and arrangements that are certainly an evolutionary step away from the quintessential Cranberries "sound", while remaining familiar due to the singer's trademark vocals. The album earned Dolores a European Border Breakers Award in 2008.
Following her first solo world tour in 2007, Dolores took some time off to recover from illness and exhaustion, which lead to the early stages of writing new songs. It wasn't long, however, until she started full time work on her second solo project. She spent the duration of 2008 writing and recording music for her new album, which is due for release August 24th (Europe) and August 25th (USA) 2009.
Dolores's interests in life extend far beyond her musical abilities; she is a devoted wife and mother to four beautiful children, and is also a gifted visual artist and enjoys expressing herself through painting. Dolores continues to write, paint, and spend time with her family as she awaits her impending album release, and VERY much looks forward to sharing 2009 with you, the fans.
