   Dr. Ann Blake Tracy's Blurbs
About me:
 my space hosting Dr. Ann Blake Tracy Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, a Ph.D. in Health Sciences with the emphasis on Psychology, is the director of the International Coalition for Drug Awareness. She has specialized for 14 years in adverse reactions to serotonergic medications (such as Prozac, Sarafem, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor, Serzone, Anafranil, Fen-Phen, Redux and Meridia) and has testified before the FDA and congressional subcommittee members on Prozac. She has testified since 1992 as an expert witness in Prozac and other SSRI related court cases around the world. Her first book on the issue was published in 1991. During the last twelve and a half years she has participated in innumerable radio, television, newspaper and magazine interviews. We know of no one with such extensive experience and expertise on all of these issues surrounding the SSRI antidepressants as Dr. Ann Blake Tracy. You can learn a lot about these medications from her latest book on the Prozac family of antidepressants: PROZAC: PANACEA OR PANDORA? (2001). The book is the product of many, many years of intensive research, and the cases of approximately 1,000 patients on a long-term basis. Dr. Tracy also has an hour and a half long audio tape/CD, "Help! I Can't Get Off My Antidepressant!," which explains the safest withdrawal methods from these antidepressants and how to rebuild the body and brain after the use of these drugs. She has spent the last thirteen years working with patients coming off of these antidepressants. That experience has helped her to know much about the serious and very dangerous withdrawal effects and how to avoid those in coming down off the drugs. For more information on materials by Dr. Tracy call 800-280-0730.
Who I'd like to meet:
Every year approximately 200,000 die from prescription drug reactions. Another 80,000 die from medical malpractice. 41,000 die in auto accidents. [DRUG TOPICS, October 23, 1995, pg. 14-16.] What is wrong with our focus on the "drug war" when 200,000 die each year from prescription drugs, yet approximately only 20,000 die as a result of illegal drug use? Billions of dollars go into illegal drug issues in this country every year even though far more are dying from legal drugs. Everyone is asking, "Where is the FDA?" Busy approving another new drug? And how many more will die from that one? A two-year Los Angeles Times investigation published in December, 2000 found that the seven drugs approved since 1993 have been withdrawn after reports of deaths and severe side. In the article written by Times Staff Writer David Willam, it states, "The FDA approved each of those drugs while disregarding danger signs or blunt warnings from its own specialists. Then, after receiving reports of significant harm to patients, the agency was slow to seek withdrawals." Morton Mintz, a former Washington Post reporter, and a Nieman Fellow who won the Raymond Clapper award for reporting the thalidomide tragedy published a book in 1965 entitled, THE THERAPEUTIC NIGHTMARE. His warnings heeded then, and the warnings coming from many other men of great integrity since then, could have spared us the agony we have experienced from the drug tragedies since that time and those we are engulfed in today. He begins with, "Here we shall see that there have been instances when our excessive trust in certain Corporate Consciences has been rewarded with inadequately and even fraudulently tested drugs, with useless drugs and inferior versions of good drugs, with protraction of illness, and with waste of our money. In order that sales may begin and continue, regardless of whether we are healed and spared pain, evidence of serious and even lethal effects has been withheld from the responsible government agency and concealed from the medical profession and the public." (p.xiv) We wish to honor him here (and those who have followed in his footsteps) in their unending efforts to warn us of these serious problems associated with the drugs we have come to learn to blindly trust. This site is to assist us in making sure that trust is no longer a "blind" trust. We must take the responsibility to educate ourselves about what we are putting into our bodies and brains. Some of the most popular drugs on the market today are those that increase serotonin levels like the diet pills that were just pulled from the market. Originally Fen-Phen & Redux were thought to be so safe that 18 million people took the drugs. Now we know that they were so dangerous that those who took even one pill have been advised to have their hearts checked. If these drugs could be among the most popular on the market and touted as "the thing" for weight management for a two-year period, leaving a backlash of victims that attorney's offices cannot even begin to handle, what other mistakes will we wake up to tomorrow? What are you taking right now that could be just as dangerous or as damaging as these diet pills? What do you know about the medication you are currently taking? What do you know about the dangers of taking the drugs you are taking in combination with one another? Even more frightening to ask is "What does your doctor know or not know about the answers to these questions?" Drugs like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Effexor, Serzone, Anafranil, etc. are some of the biggest money makers ever for the pharmaceutical companies. Yet are you aware that the use of Prozac among children from ages 6-12 went from 41,000 in 1995 to 203,000 in 1996. The number of new prescriptions written increased almost 400% in just one year?!! This is a very powerful mind-altering drug that has not been approved for use in children and yet our children are popping it like candy! Just Prozac's affect upon cortisol levels alone should frighten parents to death. One 30mg dose has been shown to clearly double the level of cortisol! (PROZAC PANACEA OR PANDORA?, p. 168) Increased cortisol impairs the development and regeneration of the liver, kidneys and muscles. It also retards linear growth. How many parents are given that information? How many doctors are aware of it themselves? The study being used to gain FDA approval of this medication demonstrates that the rate of mania (a terrible form of insanity including symptoms of sexual compulsions, criminal behavior, alcohol cravings, rages leading to domestic violence, delusions of grandeur - often mistaken for increased self confidence, wild spending and varied types of criminal behavior) among children taking Prozac was three times higher than it is for adults. Three out of 100 had to drop out of the study due to this devastating complication which developed within a short eight week trial! The most logical question to ask is "Why do this to our children when there are many safer natural options that work as well without serious side effects?

Well, another case of homicide because of antidepressants in Louisville Kentucky where a struggling widow trying to raise two teenagers and finish her Masters degree and hold a part time job killed her two teen age children while they slept and then went with a gun to University of Louisville's counseling center where she held her counselor with a gun.

When are the antidepressant drugs going to have a homicide warning on them, and not just a suicide warning?

People need to know that these ssri antidepressants are dangerous????

How can we stop the drug companies from handing them out like candy?

This is about a 37 year old normal widow in Louisville, KY who murdered her two teen age kids while they slept and then went with a gun to the University of Louisville's counseling center.

How can we stop the makers of these pills?

Dr. Tracy,

Christian Glitter by www. christianglitter. com

A prayer for you my friend:
St. Francis of Assisi....

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Another horrible tragedy by that young man killing all those people in the Mall...and from what I am hearing, he was on antidepressants.

When are they going to start a database of family, workplace and mass murders of the people if they where on the ssri drugs, or withdrawing from them?????

We need a national datebase to establish if the killers were on any drug at the tine of the crime.

Then we would have the facts and no one could dispute them.

I have been asking the government to do a study and start a national database, but the drug companies are too powerful.

Keep up the good work, Dr. Tracy.

Three teenagers in my daughter's class on ssri drugs tried to committ suicide, one of which was my own daughter, who impulsively took a whole bottle of Paxil while having a minor disagreement with me. I saw her completely change on them and become impulsive. I tried to get the psychologist to make her stop taking them. When I did, they were going to take me to court. And my ex-husband used it to say I wasn't being "fit" not wanting her on them and threatened me with sole custody. Now he knows....but what did those months of drugs do to her? I tried them and have permanant bruxism, now a warning on the Zoloft monograph, I saw what they did and did not want my daughter on them anymore. Thankfully, she got off of them with hopefully no long term side effects. But she has bruxism now also. Mine is worse along with muscle clenching...it's horrible. SSRI drugs are dangerous. They dont' even know why they work. Some guy from Brazil invented them. The drug companies say Europe is "ripe" for marketing more of them.
People don't always need "happy" pills. Being sad sometimes for a period of life is normal. The brain needs to go through grieving processes. It's so hormonal also. These drugs do nothing for your hormones...and Doctor's give them out like candy.
