PASTE MAGAZINE SAYS:
"el-p's latest transmission from the frontline is an aunt jemima-thick, front-to-back instant classic, welding the sort of noise the Bomb Squad once specialized in to the precision-crafted rhyme schemes that made his former outfit, Company Flow, so special. Already the best hip-hop release of 2007, and it ain't even close."
4/5 stars
URB MAGAZINE SAYS:
"El-P's production often lives and grows unpredictably on it's own. There's a biological weapon mutation taking place all over this record, and yet, it's the moments of humanity that'll freeze out the haters."
4/5 stars
BIG CHEESE MAGAZINE:
"All punching beats, bass tremors and synth hits..."

SPIN MAGAZINE SAYS:
"I'll Sleep When You're Dead's blood type is B-boy-positive, but it's imbued with EL's ever-changing moods and styles. Equal parts faithful-but-twisted boom bap ("EMG") and avant-indie rock (the epic, Mars Volta-guested "Tasmanian Pain Coaster"), the album drips with elbow grease."
the following was written by people trying to make me look cool: To simply say that El-P is serious about his music would be an understatement. Upon first listen to his upcoming album, I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead, it's readily apparent that this record – a magnum opus 4 years in the making - represents a culmination of profound musical, personal, and political experiences reaching their tumultuous climax. This record is about the struggle faced by those living in a rapidly changing society, El himself calling this his post-traumatic stress album where he attempts to capture the political by representing the internal. Evoking vocals and production aesthetics so viscerally indicative of the current era, El-P has outdone himself yet again, effectively mastering his brand of cutting-edge head-nodders and pushing forward a genre that has long held him as an undisputed kingpin. I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead embodies everything that is El-P – a groundbreaking artist, virtuosic producer, profound lyricist, label founder, A&R maverick and underground icon reacting to the malignant societal changes occurring today – a very serious matter indeed. This record is an urgent document, a collective representation of a critical individual crossing their personal Rubicon, assessing the dismal reality inherent, and deciding to forge on despite the cost. With appearances by Trent Reznor, The Mars Volta, Cat Power, Aesop Rock, Cage, Matt Sweeney, Tame One, and others, this is an album poised to extend a genre into a new realm of artistic expression.
The first disc of the WeAreAllGoingToBurnInHellMegaMixxx 2 is fucking RIDICULOUS. For some reason I thought it would be a great idea to listen to it on headphones while reading this Vertigo comic called "The Exterminators". There has never been a better cocktail for fucked-up dreams than that, I think. No barbiturates necessary. Pretty sure PKD came to me in a vision that night.
Hope you had a chance to check out our VANDAL Teaser Trailer, especially since we scored it with the instrumental of "Accidents Don't Happen" from Fantastic Damage.
Thanks again for the inspiration and for hooking the internet up with the first disc of MegaMixxx 2! 2! 2! 2! 2! 2!

EL-P->A STORY-I find myself upon a jagged and rocky PATH in a seemingly barren LAND-My feet are NAKED and I am holding a SACRED infant in my arms, we are wrapped in ONE cloth-From behind a rock a creature neither female nor male, but some kind of ANGEL appears-The creature speaks-"You-mortal woman, what are you doing in this land, you do not belong here?-How did the child come into your HANDS, you did not bare that being?"-I reply-"There are many SECRETS kept even from the Angels-I have long ago stopped asking how I came to be here-It is that I am-This baby is in my care and my arms the child will not leave until our destination reached-You creature should bless my travels and thank THE MOST HIGH you were not chosen-I have known much BLOOD-Now clear the trail-I must MOVE ON-To be continued...
