Eric I was born in New York City at the tender age of zero.
Then, at the not-so-tender age of six, while watching The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson with his father, Eric decided that when he grew up, he wanted to become a stand-up comic.
After graduating from college, instead of hitting the comedy club circuit immediately, Eric got this weird idea in his head that he should have some money in the bank BEFORE starting a career that pays virtually nothing in its first few years.
As such, Eric decided to go to graduate school, start his own business, make a bunch of money, and THEN start his comedy career.
So instead of embarking on the pursuit of his dream in his early 20’s, Eric instead went to graduate school, started his own business, made a bunch of money, invested virtually all of it in the stock market, turned a bunch of money into a ton of money, got greedy, left a ton of money in the market, and then proceeded to lose the entire ton of money.
At that point, while licking his wounds by watching one of his favorite all-time comics performing live, the epiphany finally hit - it was time to begin his comedy career immediately.
So, on June 29, 2001, in Charleston, South Carolina, Eric FINALLY made his stand-up debut.
He bombed.
Badly.
Nevertheless, the rush from performing was addicting, and Eric kept writing and performing - within months, Eric was working A-rooms on the road.
From the summer of 2001 through the fall of 2002, in his first fifteen months as a comic, Eric was already performing in some of the country’s premier comedy clubs: Charlie Goodnight’s in Raleigh, The Punchline in Atlanta, The D.C. Improv and Zanies in Nashville.
During that exciting year-and-a-quarter, Eric I opened for some of the biggest names in the business: Mitch Hedberg, Kevin Brennan, Jon Fisch, Mike DeStefano, Bob Nelson, Tom Simmons and Caroline Rhea, to name a few.
In his fourth month as a comic, Eric won a contest and was crowned The Funniest Person In North Carolina.
But by default, he’s AT LEAST the eight millionth funniest person in New York City, and he thinks that the latter is way more impressive.
Then, in April 2002, Eric appeared in the Boston Comedy Festival in only his tenth month as a comic.
Then, all of a sudden, in the autumn of 2002, only fifteen months into the game, Eric I mysteriously vanished into thin air.
Then, almost four years later, in the summer of 2006, Eric I resurfaced in his hometown, New York City.
On June 26, 2006, almost exactly five years to the day of his original debut, Eric I opened the second chapter of his stand-up career, this time in the friendly confines of NYC.
Eric can now be seen performing at a variety of venues in New York City spitting out cerebral one-liners, touching on subjects ranging from Roman Numerals to Shakespeare to Rape.
Also, I heard a rumor that he’s great in bed.
As a disclaimer, I heard this rumor from him.
