Eboi, one of Sweden’s most talented rappers, has become a well-known artist over the past two years while performing and touring with Adam Tensta in Europe, Africa and The United States. He has spit his eloquent rhymes in front of hundreds of thousands of fans at more than 300 shows, including opening for Jay-Z, Rihanna and Busta Rhymes in Stockholm, Youssou N’Dour in Senegal and Will-I-Am in Los Angeles.
A talented rapper with a Southern accent who combines impressive flows with complex lyrics, Eboi contributes a great deal to the flourishing Swedish hiphop scene. Add European danceable electro- and house-influenced beats and you get a unique artist that brings something completely new to the scene.
With the April-release of his video, “Hustler”, and solo tracks like S.T.O.L.D., as well as his collaboration on the big hit, Dopeboy, from Tensta’s award winning debut album “It’s A Tensta Thing,” Eboi shows his versatility as an artist.
Background
Born Ibrahima Erik Banda Lundin, the son of a Swedish mother and a Gambian father and having family ties in Texas and Oklahoma, Eboi’s adaptability to new environments and new cultures was instilled in him at an early age.
Although Eboi has had a lifelong love affair with music and has been an aspiring rapper since high school he held off his music career while finishing school in Providence, Rhode Island in order to grant his mother’s wish of him becoming the first college graduate in his family. Then he hit the ground running.
In 2007 Eboi crossed paths with Babak Azarmi and Thomas Gunnarsson of Respect My Hustle Entertainment, and was put to the test by being invited to rap on the remix of Adam Tensta's Bangin On The System. He passed the test with flying colors and became part of Respect My Hustle.
In the Now
Over the past two years, Eboi has been featured on uncountable remixes and has collaborated with most of Sweden’s hiphop artists, most recently together with Glaciuz in their Rosé Red Sessions.
His creative process is never on hold. The video for “Hustler” was shot in Gambia, part of it in the backyard of his uncle’s “compound”, during a three-country tour in December 2008. The verse for Area Turns Red was written during a working-vacation in Croatia last summer. And, Eboi’s track “I Look Good,” featuring Diz Gibran, materialized, while in Los Angeles.
His multifaceted background bleeds through in everything from his lyrics to how he connects with his audience. Eboi’s energy is contaminating, and he ups the crowd with his inclusive stage presence.
After his most recent trip to California, which included performances at The Viper Room, The Roxy Theatre and Cinespace, to name a few, Eboi gained a new sense of focus about his sound. At the moment he is working on several projects, including a remix of Far och Son’s “Panik”, he will appear in a video remake of controversial Area Turns Red, which will be released in late May. And, in June, Eboi and Adam Tensta are headed to New York City to do some shows.
