MySpace a place for friends

      Every now and then, there comes along something so amazing, something so inspiring, that it changes our outlook on life. It changes the way we feel about anything and everything. Every now and then, few out of many realize the importance of such a 'something' and do something about it.
      Those few, follow their dream, they devote themselves passionately into achieving that which they desire. And although the dream itself may take seconds to manifest, the results may take years to come. But through endless dedication and inspirationally driven hard work, those few achieve the success most can only dream of.
      And so, this page -this 'fanclub', if you must- is dedicated to that 'something' we have come to recognize as music and to those few we have come to know as Alex Davies, Ed Minton, Dan Hetherton, Ali Paul, and Ed Hetherton.
      Now, with so many 'fanclubs' out there, you're probably wondering, "Why another one? What sets you apart from all the others?" Well, I can assure you, if you ask us that, we'll give you the same answer every time: "Not much, really. Just the same strive for excellence that the guys put into their music."
      "Whatever do you mean?" you ask now.
      "Well," we say, "we believe the guys in Elliot Minor deserve the same amount of dedication that they put into their music. If they have the time to create music worth listening to, music worth obsessing over, music worthy of addiction, then we have the time to create a 'fanclub' worthy of the Elliot Minor name."
      And that's exactly what we've done. We at Elliot Minorics Anonymous, are addicted. We're here to say thank you, because some addictions are just far too good to ever give up. And since we all needed an outlet, a place where we could freely spaz about our Elliot Minor obsession, we grouped together and achieved what few have ever had the courage to dream of.
      So here we are. Elliot Minorics Anonymous.
      ...because they're not just a band. They're a band we're addicted to.

      So you want to know who Elliot Minor is...
      Well, great. This is a band worth knowing about. But first, let me congratulate you on getting this far in life without hearing about them. That's...that's epic, it is...
      *ahem* Anyway, here we go...
      Elliot Minor is a band hailing from York. Yes, that's right, kids, England. The United Kingdom. Elliot Minor is British. Only makes them that more loveable, those accents do, am I right? But before I proclaim my undying devotion for the band, a bit of their history.
      The spark that became Elliot Minor dates back to the early year of 2000, back at Uppingham School, where Alex Davies met Edward Minton. Back then, Alex was all about classical music, aspiring to be a brilliant concert violinist. Ed introduced Alex to the world of 'rock music' by bringing him into bands such as Green Day, Blink-182, Something Corporate, and The Ataris, just to name a few choice influences. From there on, Alex and Ed went on to form an acoustic duo in 2004.
      As their last year at school came about, they built a recording studio and spent most their time writing, recording, and performing their songs. When they graduated from Uppingham in 2005, they decided to take a gap year and focus on the band. Alex built a better recording studio in his home where they continued their work.
      Around this time, they brought in Dan Hetherton. Dan and Alex had actually met before when they attended school together at York Minster Choir School. Which brings me to this: All of the band members are classically trained in music. That, by the way, is what sets this band apart, if I must say so myself. They are all chorally trained in vocals, hence those perfect vowels in all their songs. Also, they all play various instruments. All together, they can play piano, double bass, cello, violin, saxophone, and clarinet aside from the guitars, bass, drums and keyboard you see onstage.
      Anyway, having been randomly reunited with his old classmate, Alex and Dan got to talking and ended up having a session back at Alex's place. That's when Dan officially was brought into the band, then known as The Academy. And, well, that's how it got rolling. They redid a few of their old songs, recorded new ones, and began sending out demos. Pretty soon, they were all over MySpace, courtesy of Dan, so we hear.
      When time came to perform their songs live, they brought in Ali Paul and Dan's older brother, Ed Hetherton to play keyboards and bass, respectively. The line up stuck and when Dan's internet savvy paid off, they were chosen to open for one of England's massively popular bands McFly in their Newcastle arena show in 2006.
      In seemingly no time at all, a label picked up Elliot Minor, making them a part of what's known to us as indie record label Repossesion Records. They brought Elliot Minor to the states and gave them the opportunity to record their first single "Parallel Worlds" with producer Jim Wirt, who has worked with bands such as Incubus and Hoobastank and with one of Elliot Minor's influences, Something Corporate.
      And, as they say, the rest is history. Their album was recorded earlier this year in Los Angeles and has since been mixed and mastered and is scheduled to be released in November. Their first two singles "Parallel Worlds" - written about paranormal goings on in that attic flat Alex and Ed turned into their first studio back at Uppingham - and "Jessica" - written about actress Jessica Alba - peaked on the UK top charts at numbers 31 and 19. "The White One Is Evil", their third single, was released on the 29th of October and managed to get into 27th place on the charts for the first week.
      As for current ways of finding out what's going on in Elliot Minor Land, every Monday they let us into their world with video clips we call webisodes. You'll find out some pretty random and interesting facts through those every week. Highly recommended if you need a laugh. You can check them out on the band's MySpace in the webisodes category where they display the most current clip. Our page will be featuring the most recent webisode at the top right, so check that out. Or, you can view them by visiting their profile on YouTube, where all the previous webisodes have been archived along with the new ones.
      They've also got a feature called Photo Of The Day on their MySpace profile where they do just that. They share with you a photo of the day.
