Like a musical shape-shifter, Emily Brass takes you on a psychedelic hip hop journey, channeling the ghosts of old school rap, rock-steady reggae, ragtime jazz, and 60's rock & soul, while relentlessly keeping you in a sweat-inducing, smile-inspiring trance-dance, all night long.
Her lyrical message is empowering, progressive, and poetic, sung through her countless vocal styles, conjuring up the spirits of Zap Mama, Sade, Chrissie Hynde, Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill, Billie Holiday and even John Lennon. Between rapid-fire raps, catchy choruses, and sensuously sung verses, she uses her sax as a wailing, magical wand, causing audiences to lose themselves under the influence of Maceo Parker, Manu Dibango and Dean Frasier-inspired riffs.
Hey that sounds great, I will send all of these Louis Thoreaux viddies off of the BBC. There is something comical about him, as well as the obvious story. I would love to drink a little and watch this one from Johannesburg with ya' We would laugh at the craziness.
EBB has the hot sounds for the conscious movement! Keep up the loving works Em! We definitely need to link up in the studio/live in the next year. Love ya! -Greg
Good to hear from you. No, I will not be in town but I wish you a great gig. you have been in Floyd lately? Someone told me you moved to Canada. Not true? -Greg
Oh shit, sounds good! I'll be in Roanoke by then so that already puts me a lot closer. Haven't seen Sol Creech since Gemini Fest 2008, and I'd like to see you guys play too. Had to work on my birthday, then got out of work. I ended up going to see the Cashmere Jungle Lords at a winery in Afton, Va. Hope you had a good birthday too!
