For the record, I hated Life of Pi. Simple use of language, a story I've heard before, no fresh writing. Why does everyone love it? Maybe it exists only to remind wannabe authors (like myself) that writing doesn't have to be original, thought provoking, or keen with words. Get published merely by telling a simple tale of isolation and familiar allegories.
I suppose I shoudn't be so hard on Pi. After all, the king of appropriation is Steven Soderbergh. Am I the only one that realizes this? He gets raves for remakes. I think he has finally come to terms with his xerox lust; his latest movie, Bubble, did what most of his films should do -- release straight to video (and a few trial cinemas). Fuck that guy. |

About me:
I'm a piano player in a brothel. I enjoy my work. Honestly, I work in marketing communications. New media. Strategic planning. Fragmeted media. Ads. 30 second spots. Internet sites. Client relations. I love building and creating the work, but I also know that everything I do is temporary. A half-life of 2 weeks. How does that make me feel? I still want to go to work every day because of the people I work with. Making great work is one thing, but having fun, making memories, learning from one another, and building friendships is the trophy I'm looking for.
