To start off, I begin this journey with complete humbleness. With hopes that revitalizing this dream will be another one of the amazing building blocks, stepping stones on the path that we are all trying to get to. Together my people. We need to realize that this is no longer only about the Hawaiian people. We have support out there from non maoli that many of us automatically block out. Go back to knowing that all people are 'ohana and we should treat them as such. I believe your interaction with every individual spirit in your life should be with the utmost reverence. We need to gather, together. Togather! (itll be the next bumper sticker!!)
Also, to go back to realizing that before there were even the interactions we have with eachother, there was the aina. There was nature. The trees, the land, the wind, the rain, the ocean. This was our first language really, to communicate with the wind and understand what is being said. These our the first kupuna in my minds eye, who deserve my deepest reverence and respect.
So for these reasons I'm starting up the aloha aina concerts again. This first one is going to be more of a grassroots jam session instead of a concert. In true Pomaika'i Freed style, which is really Hawaiian style, the date is two weeks away:) On August 23, 2009 in Hilo town on Hawai'i Island. The revolution is beggining. This isnt so much an anti statehood celebration, though the admissions day celebrations did contribute to choosing the date. Its another option. Its aloha aina! Its going to happen at Kaiao Community Garden a bit up the road from downtown Hilo on Boys and Girls Club land. Im attaching a map to it from Kamehameha Ave. (Bayfront) Potluck Style. We'll also be having it double as a workday for the garden so no need to dress fancy. Bring your music, bring your 'ike, bring your voice. Any music thats in you, what you feel you need to s
