MAD GREEK STUDIOS is an all-analogue recording / mixing facility in Downtown Los Angeles, located within Downtown Rehearsal Studios at 7th and Meyer. We are a large 20x20x12 one-room facility, with a lovely scenic view of the magnificent LA skyline, the lush LA river, and the beautific local LA residents :)
We also have a bad-ass 16-track 1” tape machine, an equally bad-ass 1/4” mixdown deck, and a not-so-badass but still quite useful 1/4” 8-track machine for use in pre-production and demo work. There are no computers to be found here, so when you come in to check it out, don’t bother looking for the screen saver.
We believe in the warmth and organic properties that analog recording has to offer, but even more than that we stress in our clients the idea that musicians should be able to play their instruments, that good music is created not by perfecting every beat and note, but by capturing in a sonically & emotionally stimulating way the genuine “performance” of the musician(s)…something we feel is lost in many a modern recording situation. Whether it be all together or one at a time, it is important that when you walk through these doors you realize that you will be engaged in the demanding and ultimately satisfying art of capturing moments. We also have plenty of beer in the fridge...it helps, sometimes.
MAD GREEK is owned and operated by Jason Achilles Mezilis, who produces and / or engineers 90% of the music that comes through our doors. Whether you’re looking to record and mix a full-length album, EP, or produce a single, all clients get our full attention and use of our facilities, start to finish - from the in-house drumkit to the amps to every mic in stock and on loan. A good portion of our music has seen play on hundreds of college radio markets across the country, and sales numbering in the thousands. This is viable, solid recording with a passion and a supportive attitude - and all at a very reasonable price.
We have also formed a convenient working partnership with PORCHLIGHT STUDIOS, a fully equipped ProTools mixing / overdub environment, along with whom we specialize in working with those of you who may wish to record basic tracking (drums, bass, guitar, etc) in the analog format, and then transfer for further layering and mixing into the digital realm.

Now this is rad! I'm a fan, and would love to check out ADA I think is the best way to get sound in my opinion, well I'm not too good in splicing tape anyway :P but I could learn!
