!!PRESS RELEASE from BUDDHA PALM RECORDINGS!!!
- GUYVE "Foolery, Tom/Shitfaced Reynolds" 12" EP. (BPR-006) The two epic, ten minute tracks find the duo of Cam Reinlasoder and Jonah Fast transcending transcendence, looking inward while gazing into all four dimensions simultaneously. Obsessively written, rehearsed, demo-ed, rewritten, improvised, added-to, taken away from and perfected for years in dank basements and stale clubs, finally captured on tape by Mike Lastra and Mark Ellsworth at Smegma studios, only to be added to again, re-thought, meditated upon, obsessed over, and finally pried out of their hands so the world might finally hear what may be thought of as a culmination of everything they've done before. An audio painting both surreal and life-like, abstract and concrete, one becoming the other. Fuck genre, this is the sound of the joy of pure creation, the creation of pure joy, one becoming the other, again. A truly heavy, psychedelic experience. 200 copies on white vinyl. *Temporarily delayed, available soon.*
!!REVIEW from E-METALSPACE!!
Guyve - Smegma Studio Sessions (MCD)
Independent - 2009
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Presenting, the next big thing in laying on the floor after smoking some buds and listening to mind-altering music is here: Guyve’s Smegma Studio Sessions! This tiny audio disc contains three tracks that clock in at seventeen and one half minutes of pure aural delight! The heavy riffing and maniacal drumming is accented by strategically placed distortion and odd bleeps and bloops that sound as if they came from a guitar swinging match in the studio. I’m also very pleased with the fact that this is an instrumental piece, seeing as though I’m sure that the addition of ANY type of vocals would detract from the amazing art these to Portlanders have given life to here. MORE!!! MORE!!! MORE!!! (And by MORE!!!, I mean a full-length next time) You trippy sounding fuckers!
Overall: If you love quasi-psychedelic noise rock that‘s as fun as Homer‘s insanity pepper hallucination with the Johnny Cash coyote, then Guyve is right up your acid THC caked alley!" - Typhon

!!RE-RELEASE of our cd from 2000 now available at BUDDHA PALM RECORDINGS!!!_____REVIEW from BPR>>>GUYVE "www.geocities.com" cdr. (BPR-004) Re-release series 3. Portland's best kept secret, this self-released 'demo' from 2000 is a collection of studio recordings, 4-track experiments and live documents from 1998-2000, that flows like an album proper, a defining artistic statement made during the band's Missoula, Montana years. Always beyond underground trends in heavy, experimental music, the sounds the two members of Guyve were making 10 years ago are just now falling on accepting ears. Essential. 50 copies in recycled cardstock sleeves. Available. ---

Noise from a Quonset.
No, that is not an over-sophisticated, symphonic term for a two-piece ensemble. No, that is not where I would begin a bio for two rural minds combining to produce a distinctively original music.
But here we are, in a place more rural than you would think, inside a tin woodshed, in the middle of winter, a three dollar strobe light, & some poorly-lit VHS recording in the corner. invited here to be mesmerized, those of us whove taken Dr. Mesmers remedy for listening to Metal w/o gloves.
The way it all comes back to me, is in the bass frequencies from an Earth® amplifier mashing against those poorly insulated tin walls & rattling the snare drum, the drummer thundering out one, then three quick detonations of the bass drum, & some drop-D tuning chord in endless sustain none of us feels more than the whale feels the water. This, and we are three minutes into the intro to that new song.
Jonah Fast (percussion) & Cam Reinlasoder (strings) have been jamming, recording, touring, & living under the moniker GUYVE for 10+ years. From a northeastern Montana Indian Reservation, thru college towns, & frequenting Stump Towns finest saloons, GUYVE has always attempted to give their listening audience a new & meaningful musical experience. GUYVE's enthusiasm for turning people on to their music is paralleled only by their musical abilities & volume.

A vocalist, a second & third guitar or a bass, an organist. nonesuch additions would truly add anything, but merely clutter an already mammoth stage presence. Close your eyes if you want to hear the words.
Open your mind by listening.
