BIOGRAPHY
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
In Jan 07, there was a band called "The Friday Night Lunchtime Special". They were a joke, and nobody remembers them. Let's pretend they don't exist. They had a great piano player (Chuck) and a terrible drummer (Niles). Later on, in June, BleedForSummer needed a bass player. Chuck said "I can fricken play bass". He never auditioned. He woodshedded and woodshedded. He was in a blues club called The Chalkboard Police. He pulled their guitarist (Cameron), and talked to his jazz trombone buddy (Jason), who could sing. Those three needed a drummer. Colin from The Reposed was ecstatic to join but he was way too busy, so they went back to Niles. Niles shedded just as hard as Chuck, to become the drummer for the Generals Gathered (In Their Masses).
Since then, Generals Gathered has been making ears bleed, small children cry, and themselves wonder why they'd ever decided to start a band. In the summer of 2008, the band got together to record a selection of tracks. They jokingly named the EP "Music to Kill Emos", but eventually settled with "Metal Avalanche". Following a brief hiatus due to Chuck's migration for university, Generals Gathered is back (In Their Masses) for some time, and promises to remain the slowest, loudest, heavies, and DOOMIEST band in North Western Ontario.
The summer of 2009 was an interestin period of General history. Cam announced that he had to leave the band in September. Chuck returned from Waterloo with strange new material. Jay brought his trombone to Generals Gathered, Dave Ramsay started playing with them. Influences broadened away from just Doom to grindcore, free jazz, ska and even "rock" music. Lyrics were abandoned for a slightly free-er form of insanity. Dave and Chuck also did more backup singing.
So I'm in Nunavut, and sitting in a college residence, waiting for your myspace music to load so I can hear some doom, but apparently 'high speed' isn't 'high speed' up here.
No dice on the listening party. Soon though.
And thanks for the top friends! I'll hear your tunes when I get to the studio next (in just over a week).
