About me: MS here. On behalf of CK and the rest of the Harper Perennial team, I graciously welcome you to our MySpace page. We are currently at work turning this site into a viable and entertaining literary destination. You may have been sufficiently impressed with our blog, the Olive Reader, but, as is our wont, we aim to do more.
Since this is a work-in-progress, we welcome your comments and suggestions. The encouragement of your friendship is all we ask.
Harper Perennial is one of the paperback publishing arms of HarperCollins, Inc. Which is a global company - so that means Harper Perennial exists...around the globe. So that's cool. Anyway - we set up this MySpace page because we like authors and we like readers. And we're hoping that in our small way, we can put the two together.
If you would like to read a sample of one of the stories from ISLINGTON CROCODILES’ you can do that now as one of the stories is posted on the Islington Crocodiles blog page. RAIDERS is the disturbing story of Barwise and Micky.
As Graham Joyce says in his foreword to ISLINGTON CROCODILES, ‘This is the edge.’
The place wasn't crowded, but there seemed to be bastards in every room…and more of them coming down the stairs into the living room every few minutes…or passing through, some in couples…some alone…some in groups of up to five…then some new arrivals. Ellen Sheers and a few of her friends. Ellen pretended I didn't exist…ever since I called her in a drunken stupor one evening years before, declaring that indeed, I wished her to curtsy on my face. Still, I wrote it off as her problem—a bit of awkwardness about her own existence as a sexual being. Graham what's his name showed up next…with his girlfriend—Michelle? I couldn't remember…it was a long time ago that I'd seen any of them. And perhaps a lot longer I wished it'd been. Still, the mahogany surfaces and old-world velvet cushions made the burgundy rug very soft beneath the sock feet. And though it was hard for me, sitting there among the pattering crossfire of Geena and Lipton's rising debate about feminism, I eventually had to pull myself from the couch…toward the main level bathroom where I could wash my hands, urinate in Nick's sink and snort some blow—in that exact order.
You have surely heard about the tragic death of Neda - a brave young woman who was murdered in Iran just for peacefully protesting with her father on the streets of Teheran.
