About me: The Historic Occoneechee-Orange Speedway is the last remaining dirt track that was active the inaugural year of NASCAR. The Historic Speedway Group was formed to promote this historic track and to uplift it's status.
The grounds are now a beautiful wooded area, with miles of walking trails and paths. The 9/10 of a mile track is walkable and very inspiring. The infield is forested. Our hope is to eventually build a museum in the infield area so we can showcase this amazing piece of racing history.
In September of 2007, we hosted OUR inaugural "Celebration of the Automobile & Racer's Reunion". The event was a HUGE success. We had over 40,000 spectators in attendance and over 400 show cars that were judged for the coveted "Best of Show" trophy. There were countless Legendary Racers in attendance, many of whom brought their vintage race cars to display.
This event exceeded everyone's expectations and we would love to see you this year at our show on Saturday, September 27th 2008!
Check out the pictures! More will be added soon! Keep checking back. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN OUR 2008 CELEBRATION OF THE AUTOMOBILE AND RACER'S REUNION, PLEASE CONTACT US VIA MYSPACE MESSAGING!

Thanks for adding Hellcats of the Wheel We have a new song on the page called PENNY. It’s the story of Dale winning the Daytona 500 in 1998 on his 20th try. Winning the great American race was his dream, but victory had eluded him. The day before the 1998 race, he met a little girl in a wheelchair through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She loved Dale, praying for him every night, and she gave him a penny that she told him she had rubbed to bring him luck. Earnhardt was so touched he glued the penny to the dashboard of his #3 Chevrolet with lug nut glue. The next day, he won.
