If you have been thinking about investing in a PC or Mac for recording read our PC strategy section so you don't get burned. Even Apple - which invented the Firewire standard along with Texas Instruments - has downgraded to a cheaper 1394 chipset that causes headaches for a lot of important audio interfaces. USB is great but most USB interfaces have latency issues that prevent you from monitoring and playing along with a post-processed signal.
